Nova Drift, I just can´t stop playing it. It is a roguelite space shooter, based on Asteroids. The game has stylish 2D visuals, huge number of builds, responsive and precise controls, plus a nice dev, who listens to the community. It happens to be on sale right now too.
The reason people forget about Transistor might be the game Hades -from the same studio- which was/is such a huge hype. Got them both in my library, played a lot of Hades but never really got into Transistor because in my opinion it really pales in comparison to Hades.
This reminds me of how I used to buy most humble bundles until they switched to that stupid subscription model that will make you pay without knowing what games you will get for your money.
That is true. However, my impression was that they started putting most of the good games into the subscription bundles, which makes sense from their perspective, simply to make more people subscribe. So while people could still choose between subscription and non subscription based payment models, Humble systematically decreased the quality and thus attractiveness of the non subscription based bundles more and more, while the great disadvantage of the subscription bundles (not knowing in advance what games you will get) remained.
Well, maybe I am not up to date on this. Are you saying you can see in advance what games will be in a subscription bundle and also that you can skip as many bundles as you want?
I’ve been recently been thinking about Arkane Studio’s Prey which is a immersive sim, with a pretty good rogue like dlc, that probably has one of the strongest hooks of any game I’ve played. If you liked Halflife, System Shock, or Deus Ex it’s definitely worth a play....
NOVA DRIFT is easily the best SHMUP if have played in my life and it´s on a 60% discount right now. From the tight controls to the artstyle and the gameplay, everything about this game is perfect and the dev is listening to the community.
I think the most common answer is going to be Tears of the Kingdom, and that is one for me that stands out for sure, but I will try to add some more unique inputs as well. Many are games that came out longer than a year ago, but i didnt get around to playing until more recently....

If reception to Baldur’s Gate says anything, it’s that people hate microtransactions in their AAA games.
