Some microtransactions are fine for free-to-play games and MMOs; I don't really like seeing them in full-priced games, especially if I feel it's engineered in a way to make me pay to play. It's why I avoid mobile games in general, playing them feels very predatory.
It was just very combat-heavy and very challenging, and not in a very fun way. Also I remember going through a period of finding combat just to get XP to be able to get gear to upgrade to or something like that, which prolonged the dragging. Overall it was a slog, which I carried through to see if I got some payoff. Looking back the payoff for me was "Avoid Larian games".
I definitely had fun with it, and I finished it just as I was getting tired of it, so it was the right length. Got it off another EGS giveaway a couple of years ago, I think.
Got Murder By Numbers free off EGS, and wife played it before so I thought I'd give it a go. It's an interesting mash-up of visual novel and nonograms. Interesting trivia, the dev's next game was Fall Guys.
Oh yea, I used to do that when games were on discs, because sometimes the discs were slightly borked, or that the DRM with the discs were really annoying.
