It was a strong point of the original and Cataclysm…

The antagonist of Cataclysm is actually legitimately scary.

I dunno, I like BG3 a lot more than DOS2. I like actually being able to move and not feel like I wasted my turn doing so, and I feel like I get a lot less “fuck! I didn’t want to go there!” situations eating up all my actions in BG3. Having distinct action / bonus action resources, where the latter can be converted into extra movement, is a good system IMO. Now if only they allowed you to use your action as a bonus action if you wanted…

This, but it’s games I’ve played vs me trying to start a new game.

Why start one game out of my huge backlog when I can run through Frostpunk again. I know how to play Frostpunk.

Original Demon’s Souls. The missable upgrade materials, and the world tendency system that stopped working the moment the game wasn’t being heavily played anymore. I badly want that remake on PC. Here’s hoping one day…

Geforce Experience had a non-zero percent influence on my choice to go radeon this time around. I doubt this replacement would fare any better, by the sounds of things.

This was probably what kicked off their current attempts to improve the game (or appear to be improving it; not a game balance expert)

Good gaming experiences with no HUD? angielski

I’m starting to find that HUDs in games clutter the screen and take away from being fully immersed in the game. I like games that force you to pay attention to what’s going on in the game and not numbers/markers on the edges of the display. What are some of your favorite games to play with no HUD? Here are a few of mine:...

Heavybell,
@Heavybell@lemmy.world avatar

This is a perspective I just don’t understand, personally. I’ve seen people get super excited about being able to turn off the HUD in Souls games and then die because they didn’t realise they were low on health. I’m sure it can be done well and I’m not judging at all, I just don’t get it. I’d rather have a well made HUD (i.e. Not over the top) than nothing. I kinda wish I understood the appeal.

All that said, I am 10,000% in favour of giving users options in all software. So if you can turn the HUD on or off, add or remove details etc, all the better.

“Didn’t that game come out years ago?” Turns out I was thinking of Transistor.

“Pre-alpha” would be if they hadn’t started coding. It’s alpha. There’s something you can play, it’s just buggy and incomplete and thus not beta. Alpha for this long has enough stigma, you don’t need to exaggerate like that.

Allow me to slide a plug for Frostpunk and Outer Wilds (and its excellent almost-a-sequel DLC Echoes of the Eye) in here, just in case you haven’t touched them. Oh, and Subnautica too. And Disco Elysium…

Would you prefer if games had a separate difficulty setting for boss fights? angielski

I usually play games on “normal” difficulty these days, for a balanced challenge. However, I don’t particularly enjoy boss fights, or at least I don’t enjoy the extra challenge associated with them. Was thinking it would be nice if games had a separate setting so I could just set boss fights to “easy”, while not...

Heavybell,
@Heavybell@lemmy.world avatar

Sure, I’m generally in favour of more options when feasible. Hell, if someone wants to skip 90% of a single player game, more power to them. Hell, any non-competitive online game too, though I doubt many publishers would consider not charging extra for it…

Heavybell,
@Heavybell@lemmy.world avatar

Where the fuck are you even?

Best one IMO

Heavybell,
@Heavybell@lemmy.world avatar

This is a big part of why I’m sticking to 1440p for as long as it’s a viable option. Not like my imperfect vision with glasses on would benefit from more PPI anyway.

Payday 3 developer drops Denuvo from the game before it's even out (www.pcgamer.com) angielski

It's common practice for PC games today to launch with Denuvo, a form of DRM designed to stop the spread of pirated copies of games, and it's also common practice for developers to remove Denuvo several months after launch as interest (and the risk of piracy) dwindles. Less common is a developer publicly announcing it's removing...

I used to play PD2 with international friends, but latency being what it was I could only really play loud missions. Here’s hoping modern netcode somehow solves the issue of being spotted by guards that are behind a wall from my perspective.

Want that couch? It’ll take your sim 4 real time weeks to earn it with their pay, or you could just spen $15 in real dollars and get it now. Another for the guest room, or because you lost the first in a cooking fire? $15 more, please.

Personally I think a good encumbrance system is a good thing in games. For example, look at the Demon’s Souls remake. You can carry as much adventuring gear (heals, grenades, etc) to make your life easier as you like, if you have the stats for it. And if you need to pick up a unique item that is beyond your limit, it can be sent to your stash, which is what the original was missing.

The alternative is to limit consumables, ammo etc to some arbitrary number. E.g. You can carry 5 heals and 5 throwing knives and 50 arrows. If you don’t want knives but want more heals? Fuck you.
