CaptainEffort, do games w Palworld isn’t slowing down, hits 19 million players across Steam and Xbox

I like Pokemon for making me feel connected to my Pokemon, and for exploring the world with them.

Imo Palworld had those and does them even better.

This feels like a weird take if you haven’t even played it. Like, how would you know?

The game is flawed, but genuinely super fun, and has a ton going for it outside of “Pokemon with guns”. In a lot of ways it’s what I always wished Pokemon could be, at least in the ways it makes its monsters feel unique and like actual partners instead of battle slaves, which is ironic considering Palworld is the one with actual slavery.

CaptainEffort, do gaming w Nintendo DMCAs Palworld Mod That Makes Everything Pokémon

That poor guy got screwed. His life is forever changed because of a fucking Switch mod

Tbf this guy was sticking his mod behind a paywall. Scumbag

CaptainEffort, do games w Veteran Videogame Analyst: Subscription growth has flattened [in video games]

On pc yeah. There are a couple for console but they’re far rarer

CaptainEffort, do gaming w Some people love it

Idk I don’t feel very powerful when playing that game. And I’d struggle to call it any type of fantasy.

CaptainEffort, do gaming w Some people love it

I wouldn’t call The Last of Us an adolescent power fantasy

CaptainEffort, do games w What were your top favorite video games as a kid?

Jak and Daxter, Crash, and the Lego Star Wars games for sure.

I also loved Wii Sports, Pokemon, and Mario Kart.

Edit: Also admittedly Call of Duty was a big one for me. Stopped playing after MW3.

CaptainEffort, do games w Here's what a random person on the internet thought of The Outer Worlds

I think the Fallout games doing it still makes it “one of the only games”.

Damn I wish modern Fallout took more inspiration from the originals.

I’ve always loved this game and been surprised by the negativity most users have towards it. The writing is excellent, the world is well realized, and it’s the only game I’ve played in a long time that actually lets me kill whoever I want, and continues the story around those decisions. New Vegas did it, and Baldurs Gate 3 recently, but it’s sadly an exceedingly rare thing.

I also loved how all skills could impact dialogue, again similarly to New Vegas. It made every skill worthwhile, and made exchanges with npc’s feel more unique to your character. It’s once again one of the only games where skills like speech or barter actually feel worth it, and is the only game I’ve ever played, outside of New Vegas, where you can simply talk your way through the final boss fight.

I get that it’s not for everyone, especially not if you’re looking for a Bethesda open world game, but it’s a great linear RPG that imo is very underrated.

CaptainEffort, do games w Bethesda: Thank you to more than 10 million Starfield explorers for creating the biggest launch in Bethesda history

What matters is the OS.

Xbox can run Linux, and therefore Proton. Would you say that Spider-man is on Xbox because of that? Obviously not, that’d be exceedingly stupid.

CaptainEffort, do games w Epic Games to update Unreal Engine pricing for devs not making games

Hopefully Godot is the first of many

CaptainEffort, do games w Bethesda: Thank you to more than 10 million Starfield explorers for creating the biggest launch in Bethesda history

You said having to own the console is what makes it an exclusive. But I can get a game running on Windows without a console.

Starfield isn’t on Linux, just as Pokémon isn’t on Windows.

CaptainEffort, do games w Epic Games to update Unreal Engine pricing for devs not making games

Probably because most devs stopped making their own proprietary engines, so the supply for solid engines is at an all time low. With less options they can crank up the price, as there aren’t really any other options for most devs.

It’s like they want people to emulate it. I really don’t understand the decision
