I don’t really have a strict one or the other preference anymore.
Nintendo 1st party stuff I always buy physical, Dreamcast I collect for so that’s physical too but for Xbox I buy mostly digital when on sale. I guess for Xbox its different because I have Gamepass (the £1 upgrade deal they used to offer, still 18 months remaining, but I won’t renew) so I haven’t bought a new game in like 2 years now. The there is PC… My games are all over the place!
Plus with a family we just dont have the space to keep everything forever that we buy anymore.
It’s quite an open question. Most games I play are “one and done” even though I think most people go back to them. Even with replayability it doesn’t mean that you have to and I’m happy to leave things be once the story is over.
Mafia trilogy sticks to the story and will take a decent amount of hours.
Any kind of microtransaction or paid content is a real turn off for me nowadays. I really couldn’t care less about your loot boxes, battle passes and “games as a service” so I will just play something else.
I used to collect various systems and games but nowadays don’t have much left apart from my Dreamcast stuff. Cost, storage space and just the risk of something becoming unplayable mean emulation is my go to now.
PS1 is probably my most played system, I used ePSXe for years but recently switched to Duckstation and so far so good. Some of my all time favourites are GT2, Future Cop LAPD, Devil Dice, Colin McRae Rally 1/2.
If you want something to play on Dolphin then the GameCube version of Skies of Arcadia is excellent.
Planetbase, it doesn’t take long to figure out but I’m trying to unlock the other more challenging planets at the moment which just takes time.
I’m on the lookout for challenging survival management/city building games if anyone can recommend one? Something like Banished, This War of Mine or Frostpunk.
