I say just dive into the real souls games. Like everyone else, I recommend Elden Ring or DS3 (don’t worry about skipping the first 2 games, you won’t get the story anyway, most people don’t lol).
If you insist on trying something to ease you in, I actually recommend Tales of Iron. It’s a 2D game but the combat is very souls like in the sense that it’s challenging and you have to learn enemy timing and attack patterns.
I could have waited it out probably another 2-3 years if I wasn’t gifted one. Still have LOTS of PS4 titles I’ve been meaning to play. In fact, most of the games I play on my PS5 are PS4 games.
I recommend it, this would be a great opportunity to learn. It shouldn’t be too bad, you have a pretty basic document so you won’t need to use any complicated features. I would use it just to line things up so you can scan your list easier.
Yeah this whole thing may seem minor to some people but that’s what companies want you to feel. They’ll slowly slip in these greedy practices until it becomes the norm. Not long ago, Yakuza made New Game+ a paid DLC. What’s next? Paid save slots? Paid difficulty settings? I wouldn’t be surpised if that’s where we end up in a few years and we start posting “Remember when [X] was a standard feature in games?” memes.
Yeah I’m doing a complete blind run for a genuine first time playthrough. I’m even playing offline so I don’t see player messages saying where all the secrets are but thank you for at least confirming it’s in the game. I’m planning to go back and comb through the previous zones for anything I could have missed before moving onto the eastern side of the map. Hopefully I’ll run into it, if not I don’t mind going straight for it in NG+.
I was using the Reduvia for a little while but then I found Hookclaws which are even faster so I mostly use that now.
What I really want is an Uchigatana and I know there is one because I found a merchant selling a samurai set so no way that sword doesn’t exist. It’s gonna feel like Christmas once I come across it.
Finally started Elden Ring, about 25 hours in. I’m having a blast but why oh why is every cool weapon an STR weapon. Where my DEX weapons at??? (Not really asking, just whining)
Yeah, I don’t mind it for Elden Ring. Souls games have their way of getting me to do back to back playthroughs, something I rarely do with most games, so I know I’m going to get my money’s worth.
