AceFuzzLord, do games w What games had easy soft locks that prevented you from either progressing or getting a true ending?

Don’t know if anyone has said it yet, but Fallout 3. There is a story quest where you have to ask a radio host named Three Dog information about your father and it’s a percentage based skill check that if you fail it, I don’t think you can progress (unless I am completely mistaken since it’s been more than a half decade since I last played).

To make matters even worse, even at a maximum 100 in speech, the skill check can still be failed. Again, not 100% sure whether or not the Three Dog skill check is even required or if you can just run to the right place to progress the main story, but if you are a first time player you could absolutely screw yourself over not knowing about this.

AceFuzzLord, do gaming w Couch co-op is finally making a comeback?

I personally believe couch co-op is so much better than online, so I hope it does. My biggest gripe with online co-op is that there will be times when your Internet can drop, or your game/voice chat program might decide to crash on you, or something equally as annoying like your friend (or you) lagging up a storm and making it hard to play.

At least with couch co-op I can be more sure that I ain’t gonna have any of those problems causing as much issues (besides the game crashing). And I also get the enjoyment of being in the same room with a friend.

AceFuzzLord, do games w This Fallout New Vegas Mod rewrites over 1,000 functions to improve performance and reduce load/save times

My toaster of a desktop can easily run the game at pretty good framerates yet the game just sometimes decided to just crash like it’s nobody’s business.

Hell, it ran it just fine before getting an upgrade from 4gb to something like 16gb of ram, but the problem wasn’t performance issues. Instead it was random crashing. Mods completely fixed that issue.

New Vegas is a pretty good game, but I wouldn’t wanna play it unmodded because I don’t wanna deal with random crashes.

AceFuzzLord, do gaming w Looking for games with unique core mechanics

I don’t know how many other games have done this (or if anyone actually cares), but Me And My Shadow. It’s a 2D puzzle platformer where you have to record your movements to move the shadow version of you in order to reach the end of each level.

It’s a discontinued open source game that can be found on SourceForge and has a couple different level packs available for when you complete the ones already included.

AceFuzzLord, do nintendo w Nintendo reportedly showed a demo of the ‘Switch 2’ console at Gamescom which included visuals comparable to the PS5 and Xbox Series X.

I’ll believe they made something on the same level as the competitors when the console actually comes out. An unreleased demo console is not something you should be using as a benchmark for how good the visuals are since the product will most likely go through a significant amount of changes in-between the demo and release.

Even then, there’s the chance that if the console is coming out a few days later, there is no guarantees they didn’t use an old demo console that is outdated compared to what will be released or wasn’t made specifically with the goal in mind of overselling the console by pouring resources into making the demo console actually better than the release one.

AceFuzzLord, do games w Starfield players pirate the DLSS mod after the developer locks it behind paywall

Imagine putting a mod that the devs of the game it’s for can take down at any moment if they feel like it.

Imagine being dumb enough to pay for it as well!

AceFuzzLord, do gaming w GameStop Boss Says Disc Drives Should Be Required On Game Consoles

That’s where piracy comes in, even if it does tend to have negative effects on smaller devs. So long as there is no server or internet connection required to play, piracy will rain supreme in preservation.

Ownership, on the other hand, is a lot trickier. I personally say just having, for PC games, the game download .exe (or equivalent file) is enough to be considered owning it, but that doesn’t mean much.

AceFuzzLord, do gaming w GameStop Boss Says Disc Drives Should Be Required On Game Consoles

You could probably steal the Mona Lisa and bring it to GameStop, only to be told they’ll buy it for some crusty, old, pre-chewed gum they found on the sidewalk a year ago. And that’s if you’re lucky.

AceFuzzLord, (edited ) do gaming w Legend has spent years making Portal for the N64 and by Gaben he's done it

Now Portal is a game I’d love to see ported to just about every single device on the planet. I absolutely support what is being made here/there/wherever.

AceFuzzLord, do gaming w Not counting games that were unfun because of bugs, what’s the most unfun video game that you’ve played and what made it unfun?

Worms Blast. I didn’t look at any of the game screenshots and thought it would just be like a normal worms games and not more like that arcade game where you throw the coloured balls up to the ceiling to match them.

I have nothing against that style of game, but I just didn’t like it in the Worms style.

AceFuzzLord, do gaming w Weekly “What are you playing” Thread || Week of September 3rd

Just finished Rakuen not too long ago and I love(d) it. The game play is really simple, any of the puzzles are simple enough, the music is for the most part pretty solid, and the story was pretty good. Nothing to complain about besides how short it is.

Not sure what the next big game I’ll be playing is, but I have been thinking about saying screw it and playing Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters again.

AceFuzzLord, do piracy w Pirate Pro

It’s more of a broader benefit for everyone, but there are seems to usually be (a) rule(s) stating you have to seed a minimum amount of torrents to a specific ratio, which I don’t fully understand how that works past it helping torrents from completely dying.

Other than that, I don’t have a clue since I have never been apart of one.

AceFuzzLord, do games w Starfield Is Broken On Intel Arc GPUs, But Intel Is Working On A Fix

Remember back when triple AAA games were released and didn’t need to be patched immediately so you can play because the game devs actually decided to make a proper functioning game instead of going for greed?

AceFuzzLord, do gaming w Nintendo Switch Successor Rumored To Have Been Shown To Press/Devs At Gamescom

The things I’m curious about is if it’s gonna have weak hardware like the switch does and will it have a working emulator just as fast as the switch did?

One of my favorite things about the switch is just how in the span of a half decade we have emulators able to play commercial releases fairly well if your PC can handle it. It’s just absolutely funny how sintendo wanted to make a portable home console but made something so easy to emulate when compared to any other console of the same generation.

AceFuzzLord, do piracy w "Copyright fuels creativity [...] promotes free speech", heh

Imagine being so brainwashed you actually believe modern copyright laws allows for free speech. Does this person constantly live with their heads in the clouds or are they just naturally braindead?
