ABCDE,

A bank’s transfers stopped working here too…

ABCDE,

We’ve been playing a lot of co-op (just finished the new Turtles game) and competitive games against each other, so Lumines (had it on Xbox Live Arcade and installed it on my Series S for some PSP/Xbox 360 nostalgia) has been given a good run. PlateUp! looked like Overcooked but a little bit different (you get to move the kitchen and tables around); soon after, I realised I take these types of games too seriously and become kitchen Nazi, ordering people around and generally not enjoying my time.

Brotato for some sessions in between as it’s on Game Pass (already completed quite a few characters - some level 5 - on PC) and so easy to pick up.

Having only tried it on the Switch (and it looked/played awful), we loaded up Fortnite based on a student’s recommendation (he is only 11 though); it’s actually pretty fun! We won half of the time out of a hundred people, can do couch co-op (was a little fiddly to get started), but is a large-map, relatively sparse experience until you get into vehicles and track people down. The missus warmed up to it after a game or two and now enjoys pratting around on the motorbike and acting as bait so I can destroy waves of kids.

Roguebook: I’d been lucky enough to stumble upon Cobalt Core which I’ve since finished and needed another Slay the Spire-esque game to scratch that itch. Roguebook is almost it, it still needs polish but that is unlikely to come. Runs are quite long, and the map system, while expansive and fun to explore/strategise around, makes it a bit too much at times. I had it on my wishlist a fair while and it handily appeared in a recent bundle, so I can’t complain much. I’ll get a few more hours out of it (there are four characters to unlock, and you use two - and their cards - in each run) before moving on. The style is nice, the music motivating enough, although the enemies aren’t the widest in variety. A fine little game that serves its purpose.

Baldur’s Gate 3: I just loaded it up on my Mac (Air, M2)… the framerate isn’t there. It’s a bit choppy, has a fundamental bug which I had to find a workaround for (controller was recognised as two players for some reason), and generally is a fiddly game in the 40 mins I just put in. I’ll tweak the graphics a little more and see if I can get a smoother experience before putting it down. I don’t have any plans to get a gaming PC anytime soon so I’ll give it a go in a year or so I reckon.

ABCDE,

The 16 player mode is definitely up my street! Hoping for a good puzzle mode too.

ABCDE,

It’s not the same thing so I’m not sure why you’re taking umbrage with commonly use and understood vocabulary. Being fired means there was a fault on the employees’ part, which isn’t true.

ABCDE,

They are completely different business operations. Please stop.

ABCDE,

That’s only a recent thing and because it benefits them and their handheld device. They introduced online DRM and you are sucking it up.

ABCDE,

In anticipation of their own OS and ecosystem. They are not the saviours of gaming as being professed by so many, they charge 30% to sell there and lock your games under DRM. It’s great Linux has become a bit more of a thing but still far from mainstream outside of custom builds like SteamOS.

ABCDE,

Indeed yes, I did mention SteamOS (I think that was the original name). Steam hasn’t always supported Linux, it was years after it’s release (maybe ten?) before they did from what I remember.

Yes it’s good, but my part of the discussion is highlighting they aren’t doing it out of the goodness of their hearts, otherwise there would be more evidence of it including lower fees, no DRM and and whatnot.

How is Dota on Linux? It’s, well, a bit crap on Mac as the menu bar gets in the way (tried fiddling with settings but doesn’t seem possible to fix it) and other stuff.

ABCDE,

It’s very much an undemanding game so likely yours is kinda potato aha

ABCDE,

It’s not opinion, you just don’t understand and there’s no excuse for that.

ABCDE,

Can they take your information and just put it into a new system legally?

ABCDE,

Yes, but having to do that in a very limited time frame should not be the standard.

ABCDE,

Gamepass is a massive drain on Microsoft

How so?

ABCDE,

maybe allow 3rd party Xbox hardware

They just started blocking a lot of accessories so I’m not sure about that.

ABCDE,

Considering how many subscribers they have and the cost, they are making a heck of a lot. They own many of the titles on there now with the Bethesda takeover. I can’t imagine they would agree to any deal that would put them in such a position again (licensing costing more than subs, it would scale), after what they did with the contracts for the original Xbox whereby cost did not decrease on some of the hardware (or something weird like that).

ABCDE,

Gamepass subscriptions currently probably covers this cost just about

Why wouldn’t it scale? They’re not stupid.

windowscentral.com/…/xbox-game-pass-has-over-30-m…

30m last year, over $10 per month on average, $350m+ a month, plus game sales which, contrary to what you’ve said, still exist. New titles result in more console sales and more subscribers. They haven’t shifted to this model to make less money.

They aren’t losing money.

ABCDE, (edited )

25m.> 30m subscribers is not flatlining. Where is a source about console sales and game sales stopping? “We are not going to be…” Uhh why?

windowscentral.com/…/xbox-series-xors-consoles-se…

Console sales higher than ever in December. BG3 just came out, which sells alongside COD: exputer.com/…/baldurs-gate-3-top-selling-xbox/

ABCDE,

33.3m, higher than I thought, and that’s not including Core. 13% is great growth.

[SOLVED] Need help getting my dad to play Baldur's Gate 3 angielski

Edit: Looks like the GOG version is available for OS X, so I’m hoping that’ll work. I guess I was just a little tipsy when looking at the GOG page since it’s the holidays and missed it. Also, I didn’t think about Steam gift cards/PayPal. That’s another way of getting games on Steam without giving payment info. Thanks...

Baldur's Gate 3 'Isn't Going to be on Game Pass', Insists Larian Boss (www.ign.com) angielski

In a new interview with IGN, Larian Studios boss Swen Vincke responded to questions about Baldur's Gate 3 being on Xbox Game Pass, explaining why the best RPG of 2023 won't be on Microsoft's subscription service anytime soon.

ABCDE,

Because I want it to be. (:

Will be getting it on Steam later on though!

ABCDE,

Okay? I already said I am going to buy it but it would be great if it was on Game Pass which I already pay for, which apparently is downvote worthy that I am a bit poor at the moment.

ABCDE, (edited )

It’ll get it on Steam later, the implication was there. Odd, though. I was considering console until I saw how the frame rate is: “frame-rates are in the low 30s in performance mode (with some screen-tearing) and a nearly locked 30fps in quality mode” (Eurogamer). Definitely getting it on PC, eventually.

ABCDE,

Hasbro laid off nearly everyone Larian Studios

WHY ARE ALL DEVS EVIL

ABCDE,

If you read the comments, the majority have done so.

ABCDE,

Thanks for responding to my joke post seriously.

ABCDE,

hltb.com has been great for me, helps to decide which games to go for next when managing my busy schedule, and when I just want to finish something quickly one evening.

ABCDE,

Addictive

ABCDE,

I bought it ages ago but still haven’t booted it. I guess now is the time!

ABCDE,

Incorrect usage and descriptivism are still separable; it’s still not a word (yet), although that is arguable of course.

ABCDE,

Why is it so hard for you?

Recommend a game for me to play with my partner angielski

My partner and I occasionally play games together, but they pretty much only play word puzzle games on their own. I’m not very good at word games though, and they don’t have very good spatial skills, so we frequently find ourselves mismatched. We have a switch and a single decent gaming pc, and a pretty old laptop....

ABCDE,

Wario Ware games on Switch, Nidhogg also.

ABCDE,

It’s super silly fun, and shouldn’t be so expensive. I have it on PC and it’s playable on pretty much everything.

ABCDE,

Every “they” refers to the partner (the first two words of the post). Shouldn’t take too long to get used to in future.

ABCDE,

Death Squared is really nice. I may have a spare key somewhere

ABCDE,

The post we’re looking at includes “my partner” then almost immediately after “they”, with consistent conjugations of the verb (which doesn’t change). It can look a little odd and take some getting used to, but it isn’t far removed from other seemingly irregular uses, such as yous/youse/y’all for addressing a group of people (direct form of ‘they’), instead of using the singular ‘you’.

ABCDE,

Why is it “Steam’s”? The article is as bad as the game supposedly is.

ABCDE,

Starfield feels the same, I go back to it for an hour or two and I forget what I’m supposed to be doing. It’s fiddly and I don’t know where some of the menus are.

ABCDE,

Can just use a controller on the computer, right?

ABCDE,

Not sure, I know that you can in Windows.

ABCDE,

It’s been a while since I’ve seen such a wide variety of reviews.

ABCDE,

mobile doesnt count right now.

Why not? It’s the biggest market.

ABCDE,

That is just unbelievable; I’m not even a fan of the Zelda games (aesthetically, yes, but I can’t get into the gameplay), but matching this with Ghibli is a lovely idea.
