I mean… He also self hosts his mastodon instance, take a look Gere:

social.notjustbikes.com/

For sure he is technically skilled!

RadicalEagle, w NotJustBikes uses Linux!

You can’t make it the “year of the Linux desktop” for anyone but yourself.

Kertyna, w NotJustBikes uses Linux!
@Kertyna@feddit.nl avatar

I think he did mention he worked in IT.

Zagorath, (edited )

Yes I think so. He also runs his own Mastodon instance at notjustbikes@notjustbikes.com.

That’s very on-character for him to do, but it’s still great to hear :)

Vincent, w Natural Handcrafted Artisanal ... Streets?!

I think this will be the video I’ll recommend people unfamiliar with the channel from now on. Fun facts, introducing common problematic concepts, and relatively short.

aeternum, w Natural Handcrafted Artisanal ... Streets?!

Heh. Art is anal

FundMECFS, w Natural Handcrafted Artisanal ... Streets?!

Good Video!

zante, w Natural Handcrafted Artisanal ... Streets?!

How else do you think block paving is put down ?

nesc,

Maybe some people never seen it being done, so they assumed it’s laid by some machine.

(I’ve done a little walkway like 4 meters long and 1.5 wide, with three other people, hellish work, mad respect for people doing it well)

DarkSirrush,

I actually have seen videos of brick laying machines before, its pretty neat.

jol,

Yes but it’s not versatile enough for most cases

droogmic, w Natural Handcrafted Artisanal ... Streets?!

The UK also has many examples of terrible patchwork asphalt, where parts have been patched multiple times but the entire surface doesn’t appear to have been repaved in decades.

9488fcea02a9, w The World's Dumbest Bike Lane Law (just passed in Canada)

World’s dumbest province elects the world’s dumbest leader who enacts the world’s dumbest traffic policies…

Also, this is happening in the city that elected a crackhead mayor, who was the brother of the guy who is now pushing through these crackhead bike lane laws

Are we starting to see the root cause here?

Letstakealook,

I don’t pop molly, I smoke with Rob Ford…

HikingVet, w The World's Dumbest Bike Lane Law (just passed in Canada)

Any link to a text based source?

swordgeek,

Look up “Doug Ford bike lanes” and you’re sure to find a ton. Ford has had it in for bike lanes with a rage usually saved for his non-paying drug customers.

HikingVet,

Ah, thanks.

toothpaste_sandwich, w Is the Besançon light rail transit a good model to follow?

Very interesting, thanks for sharing!

Estebiu, w Interactive presentations of your trails!
@Estebiu@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Oh damn, this is cool. And the few videos that are on there are also cool.

I found two more:

  1. Relive that works directly via app: www.relive.cc
  2. Gpx replay is aslo quite nice: gpx.pelmers.com

i’d be interesting if you could selfhost something like this

atro_city, w Are Taiwan's Roads Still a "Living Hell"?

Verdict: in many places yes. In places with money: less so. Not too surprising, but definitely better than the US.

4am,
@4am@lemmy.world avatar

Better than the US? wtf do you mean we don’t have taxis driving on sidewalks or motorcycles speeding down the wrong side of split avenues.

Nouveau_Burnswick,

So you don’t have taxis driving on sidewalks or motorcycles speeding down the wrong side of split avenues and you STILL have about the same road deaths and injuries per pop as Taiwan?

(12.1/100k Taiwan 12.6/100k USA)

Kaboom,

A lot more miles than Taiwan

Nouveau_Burnswick,

And? Highway miles should have even less interaction with pedestrians.

atro_city,

Less population density than Taiwan.

Kaboom,

Going faster than Taiwan

GreatBlueHeron, w Please recommend a middle- to high-end hydraulic disc brake set with a Flat-mount caliper

When I was shopping for brakes, years ago, lots of told me SLX has all the quality/power of XT or XTR but they’re a tiny bit heavier and don’t have the prestigious badge. I went with SLX and have been very happy.
