john89,

I’m the exact opposite of a philistine, which is why I’m not afraid to be critical of garbage like this.

It was overhyped and underdelivered. Unfortunately, the snowball effect has taken hold so those who cannot think for themselves will never realize it.

john89,

Not every game needs to be open world, require 200 hours, or be live service.

Right. And all of the MGS games that don’t have these are better than rising.

It’s not fantastic. It’s mediocre and lazy. The swordplay is neutered because doing what they had in the tech demo was ‘too hard’ for obsidian. The story is forgettable, along with pretty much everything else about the game.

The MGS games are classics. Rising just rode their coattails and had memers at the helm.

john89,

Not really.

It’s mediocre and lazy.

Fact.

The swordplay is neutered because doing what they had in the tech demo was ‘too hard’ for obsidian.

Fact.

The story is forgettable, along with pretty much everything else about the game.

Opinion, but this is what people are agreeing with me on so…

The MGS games are classics. Rising just rode their coattails and had memers at the helm.

Fact.

You’re just upset because I dared to be critical of something you and the bandwagon enjoy.

Fact.

john89,

Keep finding ways to justify your enjoyment of a mediocre product.

As long as you’re part of the bandwagon, you’re in company.

john89,

Not really. You’re just upset because I dared to be critical of something you and the bandwagon like.

Unfortunately, the snowball effect has taken hold so those who cannot think for themselves will never realize it.

I rest my case.

john89,

I have provided reasons, although I also don’t need to.

I’m guessing you wouldn’t be this upset if I said Metal Gear Rising is good without providing reasons?

john89,

It’s no different than watching a regular stream.

john89,

I answered the person who asked why.

john89,

It doesn’t need to be a GDQ event.

john89,

That’s nice, but even the views reflect my opinion.

john89,

Lol, you’re literally wrong and here you are still arguing with me.

Goodbye, gonna block you now.

john89,

Why not just emulate and play your games for free?

john89,

No problem.

I’m not sure about Super Mario Maker, but there is online functionality built-in to Yuzu.

After the catastrophe of Concord Sony is reportedly cancelling other projects including a God of War live service game (www.pcgamer.com) angielski

In the graveyard of live service games Concord may just be the biggest headstone, and that seems to have focused some minds over at PlayStation. Previously the noises coming from Sony were all about the importance of live service games to its future strategy, and it had announced plans to launch more than 10 live service games...

john89,

Good.

john89,

I disagree, they have their place. Counterstrike, for example.

Call of Duty and Battlefield would be better if they followed Counterstrike’s release model.

john89,

I stopped buying consoles when they started charging for online.

Feels like I made the right decision.

john89,

It’s yall’s fault for using windows.

Linux is literally available for free.

john89,

Glad I never bought a switch.

In fact, ever since the PS4 I’ve been strictly a PC gamer.

Seeing how Microsoft was able to lower everyone’s standards by charging for online really puts things into perspective for me.

It’s great because now I don’t have to buy hardware or software. Looking forward to emulating switch 2 games before they’re even released like ToTK, lol.

john89,

Keep in mind everyone, nintendo started out as a toy company and never lost that culture.

They aren’t your friends and they aren’t “better than the rest.”

john89,

Me using a gaming laptop, a solution which has been available for over a decade.

john89,

You mean $400.

john89,

Glad I still have my solid copy of Yuzu.

Never buying another console again, and it’s been years since I bought a video game.

The companies only have themselves to blame.

john89,

Copyright and patent laws need to die.

john89,

Heck, piracy is almost always morally correct because developers are only doing the least while charging the most.

If they want to treat business as “us vs. them”, then that’s what they’re going to get.

john89, (edited )

that promised a bunch of network functionality improvements that never materialized.

Holy fuck, why do the multi-billion dollar companies need to wait until their 3rd game to have decent netcode?

Edit: And apparently even that wasn’t enough, because it “never materialized.”

john89,

I recommend going the extra mile and no longer buying their hardware or software.

Emulation is in a great state right now, and it’s only getting better. The fewer resources scummy companies like Nintendo have from sales, the fewer resources they’ll have to go after community products.

john89,

So you’re paying $59.99 for the game

You mean $60.

john89,

Yep, and some PS2s (like mine) came with the network adapter built-in!

Never going to forget the days of having a 30-foot ethernet cable running across my living room (right under the doorway) so I can play Battlefront 2, Ratchet and Clank 3, and of course, MGS3 online.

john89,

It 100% sounds like their flavor of bullshit.

Remember the “emulation console” they released?

john89,

Good job doing their dirty work for them.

Prices only end in .99 to fool people like you into thinking products cost less than they actually do.

john89,

Honestly, an entire rhythm game could be made out of that idea.

I wouldn’t expect it to happen naturally, though. The game would have to be built around it.

john89,

Yeah, I really enjoyed the polish of it and how it showed us what a better fallout could be.[

That said, it was woefully lacking on content and committed a cardinal sin of gaming: the ending felt like the game was just getting started.

Also, not a fan at all of whoever is telling them to ignore romance options.

Why So Many Video Games Cost So Much to Make (www.bloomberg.com) angielski

From Jason Schreier. “The plural of ‘anecdote’ is not ‘data’,” but this is some analysis from Schreier seemingly rooted in many anecdotes. The long and short of it is that development on AAA games tend to routinely hit bottlenecks where entire portions of a team are waiting for some other team to unblock them so that...

john89,

Rent. Greed. Entitlement. Food deliveries.

john89,

Unfortunately, data shows that people prefer to be advertised to over receiving a better product.

john89,

Assassin’s creed died with 2 when they fired the creator and decided to milk it as much as possible.

So sad what this series has become, considering its counter-culture influences.

john89,

Me too.

Personally, I thought the series would’ve ended with getting to play as Desmond for most of the game, actually being an assassin in the modern day.

john89,

I think matchmaking should be done on a per-game basis (or at least it’s a different issue.)

I’m more referring to how players connect, such as having friend lists, joining those friends, and the profiles we see in and out of games.

This protocol looks interesting, and I’ll have to learn more about it.
