caseofthematts,

Yea, I’m not going to give them any money. Fuck’em.

caseofthematts,

I’m currently going through every (mainline) Zelda game and replaying them. Took a bit of a break at Links Awakening, but I’d have to say my favourite 2D Zelda are Seasons/Ages, and my favourite 3D is Majora’s Mask.

Something about the worlds in those games that really draws me in.

caseofthematts,

Neither of those use the 2e rules, which are quite different from Pathfinder 1e.

caseofthematts,

I’ve not tried it, but I’m sure if you can connect a PS5 controller, you can use your PS4 controller. Look it up and give it a shot!

caseofthematts,

No one is capable of having a conversation with you because all you do is attack other people and not respond to them.

caseofthematts,

Unfortunate, you’ve missed a great crew that found great chemistry after the pandemic.

caseofthematts,

They sold to Full Screen, who much later sold to WB. The problem with selling yourself to a larger, public company.

caseofthematts,

I’ll be house sitting for 2 weeks away from my normal stuff, so I’ll probably dip into game pass and play it then.

caseofthematts,

“As long as it’s only cosmetics” has moved the goalposts from where we used to be on the matter. I completely agree it’s bullshit.

The Tales Of series has been bullshit. Used to be fun collecting new costumes from hidden events and side quests. Now half of the interesting costumes are either DLC or different edition bonuses which you can later purchase as DLC.

caseofthematts,

There is, but not available yet. Look up BG3 Deluxe Edition.

Where's Our Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Review? (IGN denied review code) (www.ign.com) angielski

In a bad-vibes moment, they’re denying a huge outlet like IGN a review code. No matter what I think of IGN in particular (nothing good tbh), that’s not something I can find a real explanation for other than “We made DC’s Gollum and want to avoid bad press as long as we can”.

caseofthematts,

That’s just an excuse. WB choose when to activate the servers. They could have easily put them online for reviewers.

caseofthematts,

Pretty sure they’ve stated Zelda games will lean closer to the two recent entries going forward, so those of us who think like this really can only cross our fingers that something resembling previous Zelda titles returns.

caseofthematts,

Surprised this hasn’t been said more in this thread, to be honest. All it seems to be is Breath of the Wild and Soulslikes.

I’ve tried 3 different Monster Hunter games, I’ve really tried to see what people enjoy about them. But the controls are so awful, the loop is tedious, and I could never find anything good to say about them. This series truly confuses me.

@games The Suicide Squad may already be dead, with Kill the Justice League game previews not looking so good

https://www.windowscentral.com/gaming/the-suicide-squad-may-already-be-dead-with-kill-the-justice-league-game-previews-not-looking-so-good

caseofthematts,

It’s okay, don’t worry. They “don’t really think of [their] game as fitting with any particular label”.

gamesradar.com/suicide-squad-kill-the-justice-lea…

Tldr, the games director never referred to it as a live service game (even though it has all the elements of one and takes a lot from other live service games).

caseofthematts,

I’ve been searching all around for Cunningham books and I can’t find any. Not any libraries around here, virtual or physical. Not any used book stores. No where!

caseofthematts,

If they wanted to fire the “bad performers” then they’d be firing the CEOs and higher ranked people, not those actually making the products work.

caseofthematts,

They’ve been caring less about artists and the community in recent years.

At cons, they used to pay for artists hotels and give them free booths to set up, now artists get nothing and have to pay something like $750 for a booth.

caseofthematts,

Audiobook unfortunately isn’t much of an option for me due to attention issues. All I know is it’s been impossible for me to find the Starlight & Shadows series.

If you have any recommendations for Evans’ books I’d love to see if I can check those out, as well.

caseofthematts,

Fortunately, all of those books seem to be in my local library ebook app, so I’ve got some new reading to do, thank you for the wonderful breakdown!

caseofthematts,

Unfortunately because of poor time management (again), they weren’t allowed to give a speech.

caseofthematts,

I’ve just started Dragon Age: Origin. I’ve never played a Dragon Age game, I’m a couple hours in at this point. If anyone has any tips or advice, that’s be appreciated! Playing a Rogue Elf. I’m enjoying the lore and the world so far.

caseofthematts, (edited )

I’d love to hear why, personally. Wasn’t a huge fan of Alan Wake 1, so the huge outcry for the sequel has been a bit odd for me, and would like to hear the other side of the coin.

caseofthematts,

Just picked it up on Switch based off the strength of Sea of Stars!

caseofthematts,

This seems like the obvious answer based off their history.

caseofthematts,

Do any of the reviews mention anything about the UI? One of my issues while watching the first released videos and clips of this switch version was how boring and basic the UI was looking. Wondered if that was just a gripe on my end or if it effects some of the people to actutally play it. I understand it’s a small complaint but it can really change how a game is for me.

caseofthematts,

Thanks for the insight. I’ll stick with the original, then.

GTA 6’s Publisher Says Video Games Should Theoretically Be Priced At Dollars Per Hour (www.forbes.com) angielski

While Take-Two is riding high on their announcement that a GTA 6 trailer is coming, its CEO has some…interesting ideas on how much video games could cost, part of a contingent of executives that believe games are underpriced, given their cost, length or some combination of the two.

caseofthematts,

Yea, I wouldn’t give them any money, though. The actual creators got fucked and any purchases of the game go to the people that fucked them. Great game, but I’d sail the seas for it.

caseofthematts,

It’s why I’ve never felt the same ire as those who talk about Nintendo being generations behind. They generally make fun games that age well aesthetically, and I’ll play those games often.

caseofthematts,

I’ve been meaning to pick up Crystal Project (that price, wow!) But I learned it’s coming to Switch so have held off on it. After Sea of Stars, I need me some new JRPGs!

caseofthematts,

Control was so good that, for me, it retroactively made Alan Wake better by their connections.

However, in my opinion, that didn’t make Alan Wake good. It’s a game that should have worked wonders for me, but the gameplay loop being the same from beginning to end (and truthfully, it being monotonous didn’t help) and the controls being frustrating just made it a game I wanted to get through, rather than enjoy.

Unsure if I’m going to play Alan Wake 2, as it looks like the same gameplay that I didn’t enjoy.

caseofthematts,

I know a lot of people like them, but you just listed a lot of my least favourite Zelda games. Wind Waker (before the remake, I heard there were a lot of QoL changes that I had issue with from the original?), Phantom Hourglass and Skyward Sword. I would’ve beat my head against a desk if you said Spirit Tracks.

But people do enjoy these, so I hope you like them much more than I did.

caseofthematts,

You can go back on reddit and look. Calling it revisionist is a bit of a stretch. The temperature on this game was very much mid to uninterested. Sure there were people who were excited, but it wasn’t a majority at all.

caseofthematts,

Finally beat Sea of Stars, and have gone back to play Megaman Battle Network Collection, starting with #1. Definitely not the best entry in the series, but it’s got good bones. Looking forward to getting to #2.

caseofthematts,

No, what killed it was them taking on too many high profile licenses at the same time and trying to juggle high workload and high demand with short turn around. Pair that with the fact that they change and work on things between episode releases, too.

caseofthematts,

It’s really a shame, I loved their Sam & Max. Their Monkey Island was a lot of fun, as well.

What games can you recommend that didn't get the appreciation that they deserved? angielski

I’ve been recently been thinking about Arkane Studio’s Prey which is a immersive sim, with a pretty good rogue like dlc, that probably has one of the strongest hooks of any game I’ve played. If you liked Halflife, System Shock, or Deus Ex it’s definitely worth a play....

caseofthematts,

No, they’re right. Everyone was talking about it when it came out. It’s also the first Supergiant Games game and really put them on the map.

caseofthematts,

I’ve just recently said that on Lemmy - I said to a friend I wanted a game where you broke down and scrapped star wars ships, and they pointed me towards this game. It was recently on sale so I picked it up. It’s been an absolute blast and exactly what I was looking for (though I still wish I could do it with SW ships). I also agree about the shift timer, so thankfully there’s an option for that.

caseofthematts,

I also just got it on sale. I told a friend my dream game was a sim where you scrap and dismantle different Star Wars ships and vessels - they pointed me towards this game right during the sale. It’s been a lot of fun!

caseofthematts,

My only suggestion would be to take your time and take breaks between them to play other games. They’re great, but they’re all very similar. An easy recipe for burnout.

caseofthematts,

Sony only removed it because there was a mass-refunding problem since CDPR told people they had to contact Sony to get refunded, while that wasn’t Sony’s policy. Had nothing to do with how broken the game was (which it was).

caseofthematts,

My experience with people who have played Cyberpunk is being told that if I don’t expect it to be the game they advertised it was going to be, that its great.

Which makes no sense to me.

caseofthematts,

Sure, but Sony didn’t decide to take it down because it was broken. Only because people were refunding. Bit pedantic, but I see a lot of revisionist history going on in this thread and just wanted it to be clear.

caseofthematts,

It’s still early morning for me, so I apologise for my words and thoughts being muddled.

I just meant the direct reason they removed it wasn’t because it was broken. They would have removed any game that was being mass refunded. But yes, the reason people were refunding was because it was broken.

Microsoft documents leak new Bethesda games, including an Oblivion remaster (www.theverge.com) angielski

Remember that these were estimates from more than three years ago and before Microsoft completed its acquisition of ZeniMax in March 2021, so there’s always the chance that some of these plans have changed dramatically or been scrapped entirely. But they may provide an early look at some of the games we can look forward to...

caseofthematts,

I felt the same. On paper it looks like something I’d love. I just couldn’t get into it.

caseofthematts,

I can chime in as someone who has been playing both Baldur’s Gate 3 (when my and my friends schedule allows) and Sea of Stars - Sea of Stars is fantastic and great on the Switch. Beautiful pixel art and the combat is a lot of fun.
