Why Do People Still Play Destiny 2? angielski

With the release of “The Final Shape,” the main storyline has concluded, and it seems like the developers are now just churning out random content and seasonal passes without a clear direction for the game’s future. I’m genuinely curious about what motivates players to stick around. Are there aspects of the game that...

bitwolf,

I would still play it… If they allowed Linux gamers

Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford says his hopes on Epic Store were 'overly optimistic or misplaced' (www.tweaktown.com) angielski

I’m genuinely shocked how much Epic poured into the store and it still lacks so much basic features. Sorting games is still extremely barebones, store is filled with NFT/crypto garbage, the store still looks like a college student’s first front-end project, and last time I used the launcher to pick up free games (last year),...

bitwolf,

They don’t have a chance. Steam and gog not only don’t suck, they’re actually nice to use.

bitwolf, (edited )

they have to find new ways of competing for business

Yeah haha. Regrettably doing right by the consumers because a competitor is.

Although I would not be surprised if they find a way to make a money pit out of it. (Such as not being chill like Sony and releasing on steam, forcing users on to the Windows store)

bitwolf,

They could stand to make a bunch of money reselling old games with 4k, vrr, HDR, and calling it remastered.

bitwolf,

That was seemingly really only to dunk on Sony and secure another year of sales.

bitwolf,

Wow this looks so disappointing.

It look like they just barely fixed controller support in the original.

I expected at least upgraded textures and particle effects.

Two Battle front let downs in a row (EA, and now this). 😞

bitwolf,

I wouldn’t trust the fork to remain on GitHub. When yt-dl was taken down GitHub got most.of the forks iirc

bitwolf,

It mostly works but you do get a small performance hit. Comparable to to the proton -> dx conversion.

That said, games tend to hit the GPU much more than the CPU

bitwolf, (edited )

That’s YouTube’s processed video not the original.

bitwolf,

That 1:1 conversion through the same codec is very likely lossy. However that’s not a straight file copy which is what you originally said causes degradation.

bitwolf,

I jumped in to point out the flaw in the YouTube experiment you’re referring to.

bitwolf,

Imo, an easy way to remove YouTube’s postprocessing from the equation would be to copy a video file to and from a nas or other computer several times and compare it with the untouched file.

bitwolf,

Man if they did a DualSense style controller with the solid l/r1 and a touchpad for htpc use I’d be all over it.

I might just get one anyway as a backup but they’re really close to the ultimate controller with the kingkong

bitwolf,

Works fine and selected Experimental as the default.

However vrr isn’t working on the latest Experimental so the monitor doesn’t slow down with the game.

bitwolf,

Games really need a solution similar to Android.

Have a lower res screen? Only need to download 1080p assets and textures.

Have a 4k screen? Good luck to your SSD.

bitwolf,

Nintendo games tend to be less demanding. They’re built for the platform whereas PS5 is running PC ports generally.

The same can be said for Switch bs steam deck. Steam Deck can’t reliably play 1080p60 for every game but the switch can.

bitwolf,

Agreed. I built up a nice console PC using a used HP Pavilion Gaming PC.

Threw in a 50$ 32gb ram kit and a 60$ 2tb SSD.

Total cost <450$ and it’s a bit faster than a Steam Deck.

I wouldn’t call this beginner friendly compared to a deck, but the potential cost savings are real.

bitwolf,

And you can play all of your historical games, and emulate every console since the dawn of time.

bitwolf,

Least buggy?

Guess journalists are forgetting how to grammar.

bitwolf,

The Finals season 3

And lots and lots of Redout 2.
