I’d take a guess that from their perspective, putting all that time + money into developing and supporting a Linux version isn’t worth it when probably ~3% of the user base is using it.
I install Nvidia drivers using NVCleanstall and leave GE uninstalled since I never really use it. Do driver updates that include game optimizations still apply?
I believe you don’t get Shadowplay without it, so if you need game recording / replay without impacting performance it’s worth installing. But I would recommend the nvidia app beta instead of geforce experience as it doesn’t require a login.
Other than that you don’t get any optimizations by installing geforce experience, other than its game settings tuner thing which doesn’t work at all.

I haven’t built a gaming PC for over fifteen years; I defected to PlayStation in '08 when the constant upgrading got too expensive to really justify, but now I’m looking to come crawling back....
Most of the video games I’ve played were pretty good. The only one I can think of that I didn’t like was MySims Kingdom for the Nintendo DS. Dropped that pretty quickly. It was a long while ago, but I’ll guess it was because there were too many fetch quests and annoying controls.
An SSD upgrade to 2TB or something would cost less than the game does these days. Or if they’re on an extreme budget they can probably find a basic 500GB or 1TB SSD for $10-15 used somewhere.
I was interested in buying a Steam Deck… Until I discovered all the (apparently) better alternatives. Asus Rog Ally, OneXPlayer, Aya Neo etc… I like the idea of an handheld console and obviously I would like to have a device that can run almost everything, so the Windows based handhelds seem better than the Steam Deck. Is it...
I feel like windows would seriously hamper the experience, it’s terrible on small screens and when you don’t have a normal mouse and keyboard to use. It also has a ton of overhead that’s going to eat into the more limited CPU and GPU.
I’m also pretty sure you can just dual boot windows on the steam deck if you want to have windows available.
