Is it me or does it seem like review bombing on Steam has become so much worse recently?

It feels like it's really getting out of hand and the language of the negative reviews seems really fake too. I just bought a game that got review bombed and it was fine. From the reviews it sounded like it was going to destroy my graphics card, corrupt my hard drive and be full of bugs. Luckily I watched some gameplay vids and...

Review bombing is so stupid. Steam reviews have been garbage for a long time, you'll barely find any useful reviews but they are diamonds in the rough. A lot of reviews are just people who shit all over things, try to be witty and whatever else. Then they'll come over to your reviews and mark them 'funny'.

Fyrnyx,
@Fyrnyx@kbin.melroy.org avatar

Are you going to lump Shigeru Miyamoto in that same bold claim?

Fyrnyx,
@Fyrnyx@kbin.melroy.org avatar

Okay, okay.

I am going to have to whip out this criticism for anybody that has made these kind of rants.

STOP. FOCUSING. ON. AAA. GAMES!

I'm not kidding, that's your problem and that's anyone else's problem who get sick of gaming as a whole. You keep kicking that can down the street for AAA game development to pander to you, but end up disappointed over and over and over. But you still kept your hand out, you still bought their games at Day 1, you still bought their DLC, you still waited for all and any patchwork. You were still there!

Meanwhile I and several dozen others by now, have been in the pirating game for years before you and anyone else had the guts to finally join in after having your face slapped hundreds of times by this point.

And people have been also telling you for years as to what the better alternatives that was out there were, but nooope! Still stuck to AAA development.

Took you long enough.

@Fyrnyx@kbin.melroy.org avatar

You can't blatantly assume all games are like what AAA is. Indie development is the beacon that says that games can still be made simple, without all of the corporate fluff and shit jammed into it.

The forums are to be avoided. You can't even have an honest non-political discussion in them because it is filled with immature asshole trolls with somehow too much time on their hands. I'm permabanned from Steams official forums because of just suggesting we get rid of the jester award. Cue in legions of fuckheads storming in 16 pages worth of my reviews and flagging nearly all of them with jester awards. Fuck that shithole.

It's even astounding how one of the trolls, was married and has a kid. What a life that guy has to find so much time to be an asshole online while having a family. "Uh sorry honey, I'm too busy owning someone online because they had an opinion I don't like, I'm not going to have dinner with you tonight."

More like continuing to drag these zombie series on as long as possible.

Be prepared to see less feminine character involvement in future games as possible, because these saudi pricks are so backwards.

Felt a bit too soon, don't it?

Thought this happened around November.

Rimworld almost never goes below $26 in sales if I recall. And it pisses me off too because it's an 8 year old game, but the devs remain so stingy on giving a good deal. It's like they act like they've made their own sacred Super Mario Bros game that can never have a good sale, like Nintendo practices.

Fyrnyx,
@Fyrnyx@kbin.melroy.org avatar

I think sales have lost their luster when they're almost the same prices we've seen all year around. The golden age of sales was from 2010 - 2018 I would say and it was THE time to wheel and deal on getting games you sought for the most for crazy prices.

Nowadays, things remain stagnant. You'll find games released 5 years ago get an eh -15% off. You'll find games even 10 years ago get an eh -30% off. Most of the games you see go 65 - 90% off are either games you already had gotten long ago with better prices or games you couldn't give a shit about.

I understand that it'd be dumb to expect one or even two year games to be more than -50% at least. But the older the game gets, come on, you can do better.

I know this guy's track record and he needs to show a ton of receipts than just words. He needs to make some big steps in owing up to his mistakes. He's shown time and time again that he'll speak words and never do the thing that's infront of his face that he needs to do. Not gonna sit and listen for 45 minutes of it. Actions speak louder.

Fyrnyx,
@Fyrnyx@kbin.melroy.org avatar

I think you miss the point also that it's been years that people have probably known the guy and his antics, so it's easy for them to write him off. I think it is ignorant of you to pretend that kind of plausibility doesn't exist.

Mind as well say "gee, why don't everybody sit and listen and watch everything Donald Trump does? I don't get it!"

Why the hell would people want to waste the time?

The Video-Game Industry Has a Problem: There Are Too Many Games (www.bloomberg.com)

It’s true. Reviewers rave about a game, I pick it up and play it, and they’re raving about a new one before I’ve finished that last one. I’ve got a list of 20+ games that came out this year that I still haven’t gotten around to. I might get through 5 of them before the new year. And you know, if wouldn’t hurt my...

Fyrnyx,
@Fyrnyx@kbin.melroy.org avatar

So? It's your own fault, just as it was mine, for compulsively buying games you're not going to play ever. There's still going to be games being released after you die, so, why worry too much about the volume of games?

Fyrnyx,
@Fyrnyx@kbin.melroy.org avatar

But I don't see how it is a problem. Because the article or whomever wrote it, is basically asking the industry "hey, take a break, stop producing things." Which, you mind as well ask every other industry and it'll more ridiculous per request.

"Hey Authors, please stop writing things, I need to catch up on my library!"

"Hey movie directors, please stop making films, I need to watch my library!"

"Hey TV Networks, I need to catch up on this series!"

See how dumb that all sounds?

Fyrnyx,
@Fyrnyx@kbin.melroy.org avatar

You've just stated what the article was about - there are so many games coming out. Whether it is about them making even, breaking even or not is just a mention. The core thing is that there are too many games.

Go argue with a freaking wall, for christ sake. Why do you even post? Get a life.

GTA VI I feel is going to stretch about 4 generations of gaming before ever seeing VII.

GTA V has started in the PS3/360 era, went through the PS4/One era, is sitting in the PS5/X era and we're now about 2-3 years away from the next gen of gaming to happen.

Also it is hard for me to believe we got both GTA IV and GTA V in the same generation.

Either wait for sales or just stop crying with these poorly constructed takes already, most of us have been telling you for years about this. It is entirely on you.

Every year, many games are disappearing, for various reasons. Every game that disappears from distribution is potentially lost to game preservation efforts. It is particularly worrying when games are potentially vanishing due to external pressure."

More like, video game companies can give a shit less about preservation unless it is making them money. They don't care. And if anyone thinks that they care with all of the remasters/remakes they manage to make, that is only banking on your nostalgia and that is hand picked by them as to what they decide is worth making profit on. Sadly it works and sadly, they won't bother with every game so I would stop getting your hopes up by now on video game companies in doing that.

And anyone is even lucky that video game companies lift a finger on aged copyrights that take decades somehow for them to get to, despite them raking in billions a year. You would think money would talk there but nah, just their laziness and carelessness.

Fyrnyx,
@Fyrnyx@kbin.melroy.org avatar

Stupid.

Instead of you know, taking the games that were good on that system and re-releasing them as they should have been. They do this.

This was the system that made Nintendo so ashamed, they wouldn't even address or know of its existence until years later.

This is my birth month and I was looking forward to picking up this bundle for my birthday. But, I wasn't impressed with the selections here.

WWE2K25, the quality of the series has slipped, year after year. They are the only game series I know of, that can't even make hair graphics look good.
Destiny 2, this is just a glorified DLC/MTX-feely kind of package, for an otherwise FREE game.
Return to Monkey Island feels like a shallow cash-grab, I hate that art design.
Grapple Dog looks like just a cheapo game, not bundle-worthy.

Everything else doesn't appeal to me. Hell, there weren't even any games that both could benefit me or anyone I know that'd like a copy of. That is when I knew this bundle sucked. Ruined the birthmonth mood for me. Fucking IGN...

Fyrnyx,
@Fyrnyx@kbin.melroy.org avatar

Really? People are going to make a huge deal out of not being able to play "Incest Daughters BDSM"? Is that how far we've fallen off of the wagon as to what games we prioritize in getting removed? Fucking really?

Anyone who is in such an uproar about that kind of quality being removed, ought to get your priorities in check.
