Review bombing is so stupid. Steam reviews have been garbage for a long time, you'll barely find any useful reviews but they are diamonds in the rough. A lot of reviews are just people who shit all over things, try to be witty and whatever else. Then they'll come over to your reviews and mark them 'funny'.
You can't blatantly assume all games are like what AAA is. Indie development is the beacon that says that games can still be made simple, without all of the corporate fluff and shit jammed into it.
I am going to have to whip out this criticism for anybody that has made these kind of rants.
STOP. FOCUSING. ON. AAA. GAMES!
I'm not kidding, that's your problem and that's anyone else's problem who get sick of gaming as a whole. You keep kicking that can down the street for AAA game development to pander to you, but end up disappointed over and over and over. But you still kept your hand out, you still bought their games at Day 1, you still bought their DLC, you still waited for all and any patchwork. You were still there!
Meanwhile I and several dozen others by now, have been in the pirating game for years before you and anyone else had the guts to finally join in after having your face slapped hundreds of times by this point.
And people have been also telling you for years as to what the better alternatives that was out there were, but nooope! Still stuck to AAA development.
The forums are to be avoided. You can't even have an honest non-political discussion in them because it is filled with immature asshole trolls with somehow too much time on their hands. I'm permabanned from Steams official forums because of just suggesting we get rid of the jester award. Cue in legions of fuckheads storming in 16 pages worth of my reviews and flagging nearly all of them with jester awards. Fuck that shithole.
It's even astounding how one of the trolls, was married and has a kid. What a life that guy has to find so much time to be an asshole online while having a family. "Uh sorry honey, I'm too busy owning someone online because they had an opinion I don't like, I'm not going to have dinner with you tonight."
I think sales have lost their luster when they're almost the same prices we've seen all year around. The golden age of sales was from 2010 - 2018 I would say and it was THE time to wheel and deal on getting games you sought for the most for crazy prices.
Nowadays, things remain stagnant. You'll find games released 5 years ago get an eh -15% off. You'll find games even 10 years ago get an eh -30% off. Most of the games you see go 65 - 90% off are either games you already had gotten long ago with better prices or games you couldn't give a shit about.
I understand that it'd be dumb to expect one or even two year games to be more than -50% at least. But the older the game gets, come on, you can do better.
Rimworld almost never goes below $26 in sales if I recall. And it pisses me off too because it's an 8 year old game, but the devs remain so stingy on giving a good deal. It's like they act like they've made their own sacred Super Mario Bros game that can never have a good sale, like Nintendo practices.
I think you miss the point also that it's been years that people have probably known the guy and his antics, so it's easy for them to write him off. I think it is ignorant of you to pretend that kind of plausibility doesn't exist.
Mind as well say "gee, why don't everybody sit and listen and watch everything Donald Trump does? I don't get it!"
I know this guy's track record and he needs to show a ton of receipts than just words. He needs to make some big steps in owing up to his mistakes. He's shown time and time again that he'll speak words and never do the thing that's infront of his face that he needs to do. Not gonna sit and listen for 45 minutes of it. Actions speak louder.
You've just stated what the article was about - there are so many games coming out. Whether it is about them making even, breaking even or not is just a mention. The core thing is that there are too many games.
Go argue with a freaking wall, for christ sake. Why do you even post? Get a life.
But I don't see how it is a problem. Because the article or whomever wrote it, is basically asking the industry "hey, take a break, stop producing things." Which, you mind as well ask every other industry and it'll more ridiculous per request.
"Hey Authors, please stop writing things, I need to catch up on my library!"
"Hey movie directors, please stop making films, I need to watch my library!"
"Hey TV Networks, I need to catch up on this series!"
So? It's your own fault, just as it was mine, for compulsively buying games you're not going to play ever. There's still going to be games being released after you die, so, why worry too much about the volume of games?
