I play all my GOG games on the Steam Deck. It takes only a very small amount of tweaking. Additionally, I add them as “non-steam games” in the library, update the artwork and icon, and have a very clean interface.
On all non-steam games added to my library, I always do a quick internet search for “+ steam deck control” to help with the layout. It’s not perfect, but I find a lot of useful info for starters.
The cool thing about the Deck is that you can push the Steam key and update those controller settings on the fly.
I’m with you. I buy almost exclusively on-sale games. I try to buy the super-premium editions about a year after release so I can get lots of content for less than the original game costs, and I avoid any p2w or lootbox games altogether.
Do I miss interactions with some friends who only play the latest titles? Absolutely. I have primarily been a single player gamer anyway, so maybe it just doesn’t impact me as terribly.

I primarily play PS consoles. I prefer the controller. With today’s technology and cross-platform play, I can still keep playing the controller that I like with friends I have developed over the years.
PC will be my way forward as I transition past this generation. I’ve been on Sony since the PS1 (I’m old). Plus, at least I can play the older PS1/2/3 titles on PC without a SUBSCRIPTION.
