I have no idea how the law works in India, but I wonder if a small business could save money by just pointing Adobe at these people when they eventually get a lawsuit threat?
They often sell an auto-install USB stick you just have to plug into your PC. So at least there is some effort put into it that still makes it "worth paying for". And if you need to install it on multiple devices, it can save a lot of time if you don't know how to do it yourself.
Fair tbh. Didn’t know about this until know. But I would be VERY sus about a random USB rather than the source. But as you said, some less knowledged peeps could find it rather useful
I’d agree. In theory, there are many legitimate reasons to “sell” FOSS software. If I was putting it on a DVD, labelling, and mailing FOSS software my time and materials certainly deserve to be rewarded. Likewise, listing it on closed store like the MS store but keeping it updated from sources might make it easier for people embedded in the MS ecosystem to keep up to date.
I would expect legitimate repackagers/redistributors to be open that the software itself is freely available though. Besides I fear the well is poisoned by hustlers trying to sell something free for cheap to make a quick buck.
In my eyes it’s no different than a publisher selling a book that is in the public domain. You’re not paying them for their copyright, you’re paying them for everything else that goes into putting a physical copy of that text into your hands.
Every time I find scums like this around FB, like selling famous animes like Dragon Ball or Naruto GDrives 🤡 I call them out, I have never get a response… I don’t know if they block me or Facebook does it.
Hey! I had no luck finding sports replays on demand from an IPTV. But I did find a work around for this event - ESPN via YouTubeTV. It’s an American service so you need a VPN and US zip code - 11108 worked for me. It has a 21 day free trial and has all the EPSN channels (except plus) live and on demand. It wouldn’t let me sign up with my UK based PayPal, but it happily accepted my UK debit card with the American zip code.
You’re welcome! I forgot to say, if it helps in future I did find some decent live coverage on IPTV, much better than sky sports and ESPN imo. The Australian channel Stan had a dedicated channel for every court (Stan sports 1-19), commentary on every main draw match and no adverts. It was better than the live sports streaming websites. Have a good one 👍🏼
I appreciate Postal 2 because the premise is kinda funny. It’s deliberately designed so you can beat it without doing any violence at all. You’re given tasks like get milk, pick up your paycheck, etc. And it involves standing in lines or people berating you. You’re stuck doing tedious annoying repetitive tasks, or you can get a flamethrower. I think standing in line to get Gary Coleman’s autograph takes 90 minutes if you do it normally.
Otherwise it’s very silly early 2000s edgy white guy dudebro humor
You’re stuck doing tedious annoying repetitive tasks, or you can get a flamethrower.
That premise, while cute, hasn’t aged well for me. The ever-rising number of chanlords shooting up their schools (and elder chanlords murder-suiciding their own families) because no one would blow them behind the bleachers (or because the wife left him or the kids won’t call anymore) sours the premise of “wouldn’t it be funny to murder everyone that mildly annoyed you” white guy dudebro humor for me long ago.
This is my only lemmy account and I made it before reddit killed 3rd party apps as I quit going on there. Going through my post history to try and judge me is something weird to do though

Rising from dormancy while otherwise doing nothing with that account, just to announce how mad you are that your edgy game wasn’t to my liking is weirder to me.
I comment when I have something relevant to say and typically delete mean shit after typing it out cause morons like you aren’t worth my time.
Surely someone must be a moron if they don’t like your edgy video game! What an emergency! And I’m so not worth your time that you’re still replying, you foaming frothing edgy gamer stereotype. frothingfash
Have a nice life man. Hope you find something you can enjoy your time at instead of whatever it is you’re doing.
Your passive aggression and petty concern trolling attempt, because I didn’t like your edgy video game, is noted and will receive all the consideration it deserves. kirby-wave
I believe jellyfin has an option to ‘burn in’ subtitles so they are part of the video. I don’t know how this effects performance or anything but it should work for what you described. I believe you can turn it on through the admin web ui.
This is indeed the correct answer. It is under the transcoding options. Your server will essentially need to re-transcode the video on the fly to add in subtitles. Which requires a not insignificant amount of processing power.
I ran into this issue while running jellyfin on a raspberry pi.
So long as your server has hardware acceleration turned on. To allow jellyfin to use your GPU for transcoding. You should be fine.
It is bad for the consumer… but the alternative is instant cracks, as seen with a lot of games on r/Crackwatch that don’t have the DRM.
Denuvo is the first software in a long time that has been able to successfully stop the supposedly inevitable march to cracking. It’s a miracle that more AAA devs don’t use it, since it works so well. (EMPRESS aside)
You can hate me all you want for saying this, but the war against piracy, for the most part, has been won.
Be careful, subtitles on Chromecast seem to get progressively more and more out of sync until it is about 3 seconds out of sync if they are not embedded in the media.
uloz.to + FreeRapid Downloader. The baseline speed of around 1.2 GB/h is enough for 720p and some 1080p movies which FreeRapid Downloader allows me to “stream” if I enable opening unfinished files. I can get a film running on my Linux HTPC (old laptop) <3 minutes after my family agrees on one (the hardest part). Our TV is rather small and 768p so resolution is not a concern but I sit close and like to enjoy at least 576p DVD quality.
I have qBittorrent installed but I am in no private trackers (yet). I would especially welcome one that has German dubs because original & Czech ones are easy.
