BG3 is one of my favorite games, but there is nothing technologically groundbreaking about it. As hardware improves, studios often prefer to use the new leeway to neglect optimization, which is a nightmare scenario for consumers who are forced to upgrade endlessly for no reason. It’s understandable that smaller studios may need to make that sacrifice, but there should be SOME penalty for it or it will get out of hand. The series S parity requirements provides some small penalization that I hope continues for generations to come.
I mostly agree. Games of all types can co-exist and knowing this doesn't ruin enjoyment of the games that I do play.
Like Skyrim modding for example, there's so many mods that display fanservice, nudity and even intercourse. Does that ruin the game for me? Not at all. In fact, I still play it despite that knowledge. I simply choose not to use mods that I don't want to use.
Or a certain magicky wizarding game, that game can exist too without wishing death on people who want to play it. Doesn't mean I have to play it, nor does it ruin gaming for me.
Instead, the logical thing to do would be to pass on this game and find another. I fully understand that BG3 is one of the games of our lifetime, but it's not the game for me. (Of which there are many)
As someone who grew up watching my father crawl through dungeons (I think he enjoyed IWD more than BG), it's great to see Baldur's Gate at the forefront. Hopefully more of my childhood favourite RPGs will come back. I'd love to see Dungeon Siege and Neverwinter Nights brought back.
The wizarding game upsets me. I grew up with that series and it is literally a game I would have loved to play as a kid, but I don't want to support the TERF. Low-key hoping it comes to ps+ so I can get it without giving them money.
Oh Kotaku. What kind of questions are those. If one dlc is the only thing included then no, nothing from the other dlc will be included. Why would you expect any change in graphics, it’s a port. And it’s a port that has to work on the Switch.
Definitely agree about the price though. I probably would buy it for $30. Fifty is way too much.
Everyone: waiting for Red Dead Redemption 2’s next-gen update due for years now (and possibly cancelled)
Rockstar: here’s a very poor port of Red Dead Redemption on Switch and PS4
I’d actually rather love some sort of different campaign or some adventure packs, similar to how D&D does it with their expansion books.
Either that or a great mod tool that would allow for something like that. Doesn’t even need support for added races, classes or traits. Just a map editor with a mob editor slapped on top would be a gamechanger
I haven’t paid any attention to Apex since Catalyst. Could someone catch me up to speed on why Revenant needed such a huge rework? His kit always seemed quite situational but still usable.
