ArchmageAzor, w Call of Duty is using clones of real players to mess with cheaters | Engadget

I love the idea of anti-cheat that doesn’t just ban cheaters, but messes with them and makes them waste their time

ArchmageAzor, w Call of Duty is using clones of real players to mess with cheaters | Engadget

This actually sounds like a coverup in an SCP article.

“At 1700 hours the foundation became aware of an unknown digital entity in the video game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 that would only make itself aware to cheaters. Foundation assets within Activision has announced this as a new anti-cheat system.”

Monomate, w Sources: Assassin's Creed Publisher Remaking Black Flag, The Pirate One

Ubisoft seem to be running out of ideas if their best bet is remaking a relatively recent game. They should leave the Assassin’s Creed franchise resting for a bit if they lack innovative ideas for it.

Maybe doing a feudal Japan AssCreed is still valid as there’s fan demand for it, but if they do they better nail it because they’ll be inevitably compared to Ghost of Tsushima.

laylawashere44,

I mean if there is one company that took risks with their largest franchises it’s Unisoft. Origins literally changed massive parts of the game, arguably even changing the genre. IMO as someone who tried to go back to some of the older games like Syndicate and Black Flag they are really dated in a lot of ways.

Monomate,

They changed the overall game design in Assassin’s Creed Origins, but not out of goodness of their hearts. The game’s new direction was more compatible with microtransactions.

Ser_Salty,

Was it? The primary thing they’re selling through MTX is player and weapon “skins”, which were already a thing in the past games (they didn’t sell them, IIRC, but realistically they could’ve). I guess the booster packs and stuff like that wouldn’t really work without the RPG leveling, although I question how profitable those really are.

weirdo_from_space, w Sega has a collection of 55 Sega Genesis ROMs for sale on Steam

I didn’t know Sega did that, pretty neat.

snakesnakewhale,

My impression is that Sega’s always been pretty chill & receptive to interest in respectful revivals of classic IP.

It’s been nice to watch a large company respond to that interest with more accessibility, and not less (Nintendo).

Scrof,

Sega does what Nintendon’t, but unironically.

IIRC all of the games also have workshop support where you can download romhacks.

commissar_whiskers, w Full source code of Far Cry 1 just dropped on the Internet Archive

I loved Far Cry when it came out. I tried reinstalling it a few years later but the disk didn’t work anymore.

And I just looked and found it in my steam library. I know what the next game I’m going to install and not finish is.

nanoUFO,
@nanoUFO@sh.itjust.works avatar

I finished it a while back and it’s fun, I would say it has more soul than far cry 2 which felt incomplete. The final stage of the game gets kinda hard tho.

commissar_whiskers,

Come to think of it I’m not sure I actually finished it. I know I got past the (avoiding spoilers) regular type enemies, but not to the actual end.

Hey this is pretty cool, maybe I’ll get back into gaming during my summer vacation. Thanks for sharing!

Has anyone checked for funny dev comments yet? Or very obvious hacks which were meant to be “temporary”?

tlf, w Derail Valley: Simulator - Launch Trailer

This update improved the game in so many ways. It feels awesome to drive through stormy nights and unlike many other driving simulations the risk of crashing feels great too. Everyone how wants to find out how much work goes into operating locomotives should try this.

passepartout, w AMD will give away a copy of Starfield to those who buy Ryzen 7000

This is a bad omen for starfield imo. All the games i got with my AMD components last year (e.g. forspoken) were garbage. Maybe Bethesda is anticipating that they can’t keep up with the hype around the game which will be badly optimized or buggy at launch (like any other bethesda game) and try to save some profit.

But then again, most gamers have the worst impulse control and will even buy a steaming piece of shit if there’s a possibility to preorder it.
