Bought the PS5 version at launch which is something I dont do with many games. Been fairly happy with the game but it does look a lot like Capcom is moving quickly towards enshittification with this much monetization.
The game is no world, but I do like it a lot more that Rise. There’s a lot more to explore, endemic life is more rich and combat feels more weighty.
Might give rise another go on pc later tough. Got bored with it on Switch near the end of high rank base game.
The way they use the term ‘expansion’ in the article confused me. They are just talking about how the free content updates have been moved to be sooner than originally planned. They aren’t taking about DLC or an entire paid expansion.
It’s probably good the content comes out sooner seeing as how many lose interest at the current drip feed if content. I wish they would fix the games actual problems though. Or even just the hardware issues.
I dunno, it literally just looks like a mod for BF3 or BF4. Which would have been fine for just a graphics update and some QoL improvements back in the day, but now all this will be is a Skinner box designed to force you to buy as many microtransactions as possible… Which begs the question of why bother playing this when you could just play BF4 which seems pretty similar but won’t be harassing you endlessly to give EA more money?
That’s how I see it too. Having fun with BF2142 and BF3 playing with bots. I have no intention of giving them money for this expensive online-only spinoff.
Is anybody actually excited for new triple A games? I can’t remember the last time I was. Maybe Space Marine 2? But even then, I was really worried about how they’d jam it full of microtransactions after charging £70 for the base game or some other bullshit.
I find it hard to believe people are genuinely excited in the more mainstream gaming space nowadays; I might be (am) being very very cynical but for a decade or more it’s felt like these “big” games are increasingly anti-consumer.
Also the horrible commonality of game development studios and publisher higher-ups (and regular 9-5 employees) being implicated or found guilty of sex crimes. It’s pretty concerning.
For me, only GTAVI because GTA is just one of the best and most iconic game series of all time. They don’t release a new one very often so when the latest GTA game comes out, it always feels like a new era. I still remember the absolute joy I felt when I got GTAV delivered 3 days before the release date 12 years ago.
Having said all that, Rockstar’s abandonment of V’s singleplayer in favour of milking GTA Online and flogging shark cards left a real bitter taste in my mouth, as well as the reported crunch and poor working conditions for the development team.
Feels like out of all the GTA games, this could be the one where Rockstar really messes it up in some way. But that remains to be seen.

Seconded. Switch 2 at this point is mainly just worth it if you have a backlog of Switch 1 games that you want to play in better quality.
Donkey Kong is the first true “must buy” (MKW is good too but it’s mainly just for people who have played MK8 to death and want something new). It’s gonna be a bit for another tentpole franchise to carry the console further towards being a compelling purchase.
I’m not sure Air Riders will be that game either. I love the original Air Ride to death and I’m really looking forward to Air Riders, but I don’t think it carries a console. Metroid Prime 4 is probably the next big decider for a lot of people.
