Look, it’s very simple - even a cocaine addled exec can see. You remove a fair deal of your gameplay time, say 1/3, and focus budget and development time on quality control and polish. I.e quality over quantity. This is a matter of management and Bethesda’s management is dumb. It’s not rocket science, it’s just business.
I’m guessing players will prefer flying over the mountains over climbing after the trailer unless Hello Games adds some interesting mechanics to climb.
I didn’t realize they released it on Steam. They chose a terrible time. Remnant 2 is out, so is Baldurs Gate 3. Dead by Daylight has Alien expansion around the corner. They’re too late. But a good step. I hate battlenet.
I prefer games with established characters over blank-slate character creator types. The worlds in Bethesda games are so generic bc every interaction has to account for whatever the player chooses to be.
Geralt, Wolf, Aloy, and Author Morgan inspire me to think about pathos and motivation. The dragonborn and tarnished are just coat-racks to hang armor on.
Spoilers Below for Sekero and Elden Ring
By the end of Elden Ring, I go and talk to Roderika and she’ll tells me she’s decided to burn alive in solidarity with Hewg, and I’m like wow, so sad, anyway… can I get some of that spirit tuning? Meanwhile, I’ve never platinumed Sekiro despite many playthroughs because I can’t inhabit a version of Wolf that betrays Kuro.
