TOTK makes BOTW look like a tech demo. I wasn’t very whelmed with BOTW, either, but I am glad I checked out TOTK because it is, IMO, the best exclusive on the system.
I do agree that TotK was a better game than BotW, though I can also see how someone who may not love the BotW model wouldn’t be enamored with TotK either.
I just got totk for $20 black Friday a few months ago. I got through the first two or three minor dungeons and it didn’t really grab me. How far do I have to go before it becomes addicting?
Do you consider yourself as a creative or a Minecraft fan? (Or in a nutshell somebody who likes Legos, map edition/creation etc), because I don’t, and I love BOTW but the building mechanics of TOTK have me scared of it 😅
Przerabiałem przyczepke 2osobową, foteliki weeride i hamax. Ogólnie na co dzień dla 1 dziecka polecam raczej foteliki - przeciskanie po ulicach z przyczepką jest trudne i wogóle dodatkowe 2 koła nie sprawiają, że jedzie się lżej. Dla maluchów do 2 - 3 lat zwłaszcza wee ride fajny, bo można normalnie pogadać i coś pokazać, a nie krzyczeć do bagażnika i w miarę mogą spać na tym takim jak gdyby pulpicie. Na plus przyczepek to, że można nawrzucać więcej śmieci (oprócz dziecka). Jak dziecko małe to bdzie pewnie w niej spać to niby spoko jak rozkłada się trochę siedzenie,. Jak na wertepy to dobrze, żeby była amortyzacja jakaś. Dobra jest zasłonka od deszczu i osobno moskitiera, ale przejrzyste w miare, bo inaczej strasznie im tam zasłoniętym z tyłu nudzi jak pada. Nie przejmuj zanadto pierwszą reakcją - to się może i raczej będzie zmieniać. Jak chodzi o reklamowanie firm, to reklamuje używane, bo kupowanie nowych rzeczy to syf, grzech i patologia. Ja kupiłem uzywany chariot (starsza wersja tule, ale części do tule pasują) w dobrym stanie za 600 chyba.
No właśnie myślałem o używanym thule, bo taki też kupiliśmy wózek i bardzo łatwo było znaleźć części żeby go doprowadzić do stanu jak nowy. Z jednej strony fotelik wydaje mi się atrakcyjny z racji tej bliskości z dzieckiem, z drugiej mam jakąś wewnętrzną blokadę związaną z ewentualnym upadkiem. No niby mi się nie zdarza upadać, ale wiesz - sama hipotetyczna możliwość już powoduje obawy. A w jakim wieku miałeś dzieciaki jak zaczynałeś z nimi jeździć?
Przyczepka to jak drugie miało z 1 rok i trza było dwójkę wozić. Z pierwszym weeride tak z 1,5r., hamax jak wyrósł z tamtego czyli pewnie ze 3. ze 4 lata woże dzieci raz upadłem w krzaki z hamaxem jak mi się kierownica nagle złamała, ale nic nie stało.
In the case of No Man’s Sky specifically, probably still pretty bad. It wasn’t “lackluster” it was straight up false advertising. What they did was deceptive and intentional.
They’ve done a TON since then to try to make it right, but that doesn’t excuse their initial crime.
Wouldn’t labeling it beta/early access imply that they’re more honest about what the game is and is not at the time of its release into early access/beta? Not as much reason to lie if you already said that it will take a couple of years before it’s done. Of course, you can still overstate your plans …
They showcased a LOT of features that only existed in a demo version, stated plainly that they existed in the full game (as opposed to “this is something we WANT to add but right now it only works in the demo…”). Same in interviews: he went into great detail about features that didn’t exist.
NMS was like being advertised a brand new Lamborghini, charged for a brand new Lamborghini, then being given a 2003 Honda Civic.
That’s not something early access or beta would have fixed. Might have reduced the scale of community’s negative response simply by limiting the number of purple who would have bought it, but those who made the purchase and then realized they were scammed would have been just as upset.
How I feel about cyberpunk. At least no man’s sky was an indie team that went through multiple lawsuits and a huge flood. CD project red has no excuse they just took a shit and wanted money for it
I almost jumped on the Cyberpunk bandwagon just because it was CD Projekt Red. Kept telling myself they wouldn’t stoop to Hello Games’s level. …and they didn’t stoop quite that low, but for CD Projekt Red to put out something as shitty as Cyberpunk was a shock.
Fortunately I kept reminding myself about NMS and never did try Cyberpunk without first seeing reviews from real players… and holy fuck. Sounds like they’ve fixed a lot and the price has dropped, so I might dive in some day, but I definitely dodged a bullet with that one.
Just goes to show that NO company is worthy of your loyalty, regardless of their history.
I thought there was another game released by CD Projekt Red that had some major issues on release but I don’t have the time to dig for articles about it.
Buggy is forgivable to an extent. Hell it’s part of the charm in some games (looking at you, Bethesda).
It comes down to whether or not the game that was delivered actually lives up to the game that was sold, especially regarding gameplay footage and features/concepts promised in things like interviews.
Back to NMS - the game they advertised and the game they delivered were barely even comparable: it what dishonest, and that’s ultimately what pissed the gaming community.
Witcher III… buggy mess, but it still looked and felt like the game they promised, so we say whining about bugs, but that was kinda it.
Cyberpunk… kinda in between. No where near NMS levels of false advertising, but also failed to live up to gameplay demonstrations; so the community’s reaction was predictably more angry than what we saw with Witcher III’s bugs, but without the torch-and-pitchfork response that NMS got.
Cadence of Hyrule - The original Crypt of the Necrodancer is one of my all-time favorites. CoH doesn't quite reach that incredibly high bar, but it's still an excellent game in its own right.
Metroid Dread - Hits all the highs of Super, but with greatly improved combat and bosses. So yes, I am calling this better than Super, you heard me.
Puyo Puyo Champions - Technically, this is not exclusive. However, I am counting it as such because the online playerbase is dead on every other platform. If you want to play the greatest competitive puzzle game ever made, the Switch version of Champions is really the only option.
Off topic, but Crypt of the Necrodancer is on sale right now on Steam and I own a dance mat… do you know how difficult the dance mat mode for the game is? I’m really bad at rhythm games, I still have a lot of fun playing them though.
The original game (but not CoH) is cleverly designed to be entirely playable with just four inputs, all non-movement actions can be performed with two simultaneous inputs (jumps). So it's entirely playable on a dance pad that way. I haven't tried it myself, but I know it's a thing you can do, and there's footage out there of speedrunners doing dance pad runs.
I highly recommend the xenoblade series. 1,2, and 3 are on switch with a remake of X coming in a few months. All nintendo exclusive games well worth their cost (if you have time for a jrpg)
Rather than labeling lackluster unfinished releases, these studios should stop setting impossible to achieve timelines, and just release a product when it’s ready. How they do it is for them to figure out
I feel like that has to be pretty hard with how corporate pretty much every “AAA” game publisher is. So many are subsidiaries of subsidiaries and the parent company wouldn’t hesitate to push them to the curb.
They might also be worried about getting into a Duke Nukem Forever situation where they end up endlessly in development. They would end up having to fix issues while also keeping up with gaming trends.
+1 to Animal Crossing. Love the aesthetic of cozy games but sometimes a lack of a solid goal, for lack of a better word (casual games are games, not being judgy about that, they are just not to my personal preference) casual-ness/lack of complexity, or not-the-best gameplay drives me away. I enjoyed Animal Crossing a lot.
Labeling it “early access” is definitely more honest - the dev might abandon it, but at least you didn’t buy it thinking it was a somewhat finished and polished product. And maybe people would be less grateful for the continuing updates, but then again, their opinion of the developer would never have been as low as it was for No Man’s Sky.
I agree it would be more honest but I’m wondering how the early access label would effect their sales.
Games like Project Zomboid and 7 Days To Die got a decent amount of attention from sites like YouTube but I’m wondering how many people stick around for the trickle of updates or will care when the game transition into a full release.
Well, the issue with those games is that they’re already played-out by the time they hit 1.0, at least that’s how it works for me with 7 Days To Die. Maybe there’s some new stuff I haven’t seen yet, but I already saw most of what the game has to offer in terms of gameplay and I don’t feel like picking it up again. Might be a general issue with games that spend a lot of time in early access.
With No Man’s Sky the difference might be that there barely was anything to do after release, so many people probably dropped it after maybe 10 hours.
