When I was a kid, I felt pretty confident no video game would ever top Dragon Quest 4 (known as Dragon Warrior 4 to me, at the time).
It has been since surpassed, but I do still think it’s pretty damn excellent.
Other big games for me were Ultima Online, later World of Warcraft.
Prior to those MMOs though, I was a big MUD (multi-user dungeon) player. I used to connect to Arythia.org via zMUD or old telnet and spend hours at a time playing and chatting with people in the entirely text-based proto-MMO
The original Spyro was my absolute favorite as a kid, also enjoyed crash bandicoot, ratchet and clank, and the jak and daxter series. The don’t make adventure games like they used to imo so now I do a lot of strategy and sim games as I’m obviously old now
The Remembrance speaks to us on the evil of man’s will, of the reasons for Exodus, and the Rites of the Traveler. Arcadia is our destiny and our right. Enlightenment is our gift. By the Bloodnames of the founders we must return, return and protect that which is unique among the stars. Terra awaits us as it was written. We are the last of the Wardens, the sole hope for the Earth.
I still have the Clan wolf propaganda flyer the game came with and it turned into a lifelong hobby, I’m still making my way through all the Battletech novels.
Neon White, it’s fun and scratches the same time trial competitive itch Mirror’s Edge had. I like the story as well, it’s quirky and funny, not too serious.
Started playing Yakuza like a dragon. I wanted to start a new RPG. Also started a new playthrough of Eden Ring, following the wiki since I missed a lot of stuff in the past. Going with a samurai build
More of my last couple months overview… I’ve been continuing Monster Hunter: Rise basically since the beginning of October, went across the country for a road trip and since getting back near the end of October have been pretty heavily attempting to 100% the game. I’ve put thousands of hours into the MH series but this would be my first technical 100% in these games since MH Tri.
In between all that I also rebuilt my music PC downstairs which has enough space for VR, more than I’ve ever gotten to try before. It’s been great, although I’m still mostly doing my usual games, Pistol Whip, Blade and Sorcery, Holoball with some hobby applications like Vermillion and Vinyl Reality.
However outside of that, my friend got me Lethal Company which has been pretty fun. I like the Phasmophobia style game when I have a friend to play it with, and Lethal Company fits that well focusing on junk collecting and monsters instead of ghosts. I’ve also been playing games I wouldn’t usually play on the PC on the Steam Deck instead. Much better experience for my preference, Kingdom Two Crowns, Hero’s Hour, Everhood, and the more arcade style games like Moose Life and Ubermosh.
But this past week? MH: Rise, Moose Life, Ubermosh, Crypt of the Necrodancer!
I appreciate the humor here and also feeling like I'm getting aware how hard it is to find honest feedback on anything game related with how heavy THE MARKET wants to push influence on the industry. The stuff about BG3 being THE WORST BECASUE IT HURTS BIG MONEY FEELINGS comoflauged articles was INSANE. Fucking Chat GDP ones shilling that little companies shouldn't be thought of nicely.
Thank you! This entire post is my little way of poking fun at the current state of things. It’s as if the market tries to set a singular narrative for new games/products and it’s very hard to provide honest feedback if it goes against the grain in any way.
That BG3 drama was pretty much fabricated to stir up social media engagement. The sentiment you are complaining about really only existed in the mind of people complaining.
Nevermind that neither Larian or Sony are small companies.
That or they just don’t like the content of the post?
I haven’t upvoted the post because I’m not a huge fan of the “I’m not like other gamers/posters” style of content and don’t really want to encourage it.
I said nothing of the point value on the post. One can clearly see the comments here and how most of them blatantly took the post seriously (or didn’t actually read the body).
