I played it on release and it was a fun time with friends. A few years back Phoenix Labs was bought out by another company, and it was all downhill from there. It really is a shame, Dauntless was a neat game.
Yeah most game news websites don’t understand stocks but in this case, DA Vanguard was a massive failure. In the press release, the game was played by 1.5 million people. Not copies sold, just played. This probably includes people that just bought a month of EA Play to check it out.
The newest fifa game (EA sports FC now) also under-performed but they didn’t say much about it beyond that. A few more flops and it sounds like EA could be following Ubisoft into crashing hard.
I Highly, highly recommend Against the Storm if nobody has played it yet. Fantastic city builder roguelike with a gorgeous atmosphere and interesting world.
Not anytime soon. Nvidia tried, and nobody liked it. LLMs still suck at creative writing and need a ton of RAM/VRAM just to work. They also often get confused or trail off in any discussion/roleplay.
The only game that sort of made it work was Suck Up!, where you’re a vampire that has to convince an AI to let you in their house so you can suck their blood. It’s a fun concept but even that game gets repetitive quick and the LLM is very stupid and random.
