sigmaklimgrindset, do games w Sony announces the PS5 Pro with a larger GPU, advanced ray tracing, and AI upscaling

The PS3 was a 64 bit (I think) custom PowerPC processor.

Thanks for jogging my memory, I completely forgot how different the PS3 architecture is compared to the other PlayStations and also the 360. Same reason why emulation for it is so hard (and why MGS4 has no modern ports 🥲)

FOR NO DISC DRIVE

I agree. One of the few reasons I still stuck to consoles is because I could buy the physical games and have it on my shelf forever. That’s going the way of the dinosaurs, and while I love that things are more accessible via Steam or whatever, I can’t let my friends borrow my games, or pass it along to someone else to enjoy if I didn’t like a game as much.

I also just love collecting and displaying game cases and steelbooks and stuff. That’s rarely a thing anymore, either.

Yeah, idk why Ps4 has no backwards compatibility. PS3 (fat) was backwards compatible with PS 1+2, and PS5 is backwards compatible for PS4. I didn’t buy a PS4 for that exact reason, and was lucky enough to get my hands on a PS5 during launch to play all the PS4 games I missed.

With all the niche Japanese games I like slowly coming to PC, I probably won’t buy a new console ever again. (As an aside, if anyone has a spare fat PS3 they’re willing to sell for parts…)

Do…do women not want the rich to pay taxes? In a game called Victoria, no less? (i’ve never played)

Considering that Vincke (or another person from Larian) has stated that everyone from WotC they worked with has now been laid off despite the huge success of BG3, I’m glad Larian are focusing on their own IP instead of bringing in money for WotC/Hasbro.

Response from one of their devs two months ago on Reddit. They decided to make it 3 person co-op instead of 2.

It’s a kickstarter game, so I think paid DLC would be kind of a slap in the face of their community (in my opinion).

1800 was so addictive. The soundtrack is amazing too.

Your thinking of Fanal Fantasy Anthologies which includes FFV and FFVI which were both originally SNES

Europe actually didn’t have FF Anthologies 🥲 I played both VI and VII while visiting my family in Europe, and my cousin had them as standalone games (and I am forever grateful he was kind enough to trust a snot nosed brat like me with his precious PlayStation)

sigmaklimgrindset, do gaming w Someone has to keep the retro spark alive

Shows how timeless the games you listed are, I played most of them in the mid-late 2000s as a kid and never thought of them as “old” like I do with the SNES, lol.

sigmaklimgrindset, do gaming w Someone has to keep the retro spark alive

Wait…FFVI was for the SUPER NINTENDO??? I love that game, why did I think it was a PlayStation original, along with VII?

Edit: I looked it up and it’s blowing my mind that it came out in 1994.

sigmaklimgrindset, do games w Dead Cells has its final update out now with The End is Near

Thanks for the recs! I’ve played Aeterna Noctis and enjoyed it a lot, I’ll definitely check the other two out!

sigmaklimgrindset, do games w Dead Cells has its final update out now with The End is Near

Yeah, it does, but what are you missing exactly? Can you not get to the final boss without the DLC? No, you can get to the boss no problem, and in fact going to DLC biomes sometimes means you can’t get to the final biome/boss. Is your playtime reduced to less chambers/run? Nope, the number of chambers and biome-bosses remain the same. Is the gameplay altered? Nope, all runes and weapons that you need to finish the game is there in the base game and unlockable.

I know, because I played the base game only until the Dead Cells Castlevania PS5 collection came out.

You’re being disingenuous in making it seem like they purposefully cut content and then added it back for $$$, when Evil Empire has been adding a lot of free updates to the base game since 2019.
