moody, do games w Speedrunner already beat Zelda: Breath of the Wild on Nintendo Switch 2

I think those glitches work because some menu interactions slow the game down intentionally (for like half a second) and players have found ways of abusing the slowdown’s interaction with game physics. So I don’t think framerates are relevant to that, but I may be wrong about that.

Doom Eternal had similar glitches where the weapon choice menu slows time down to let you make a selection, and you can abuse that slowdown by spamming the jump button to launch yourself really high. I believe speed runners bind the mouse wheel to jump so they can super launch themselves.

moody, do games w Doom (2016) now DRM free on GOG

SnapMap is a built-in map editor. It lets you build simple maps made of prefab rooms. It’s clunky and very limited. Really nothing particularly interesting considering the history of OG Doom’s decades-old fan-made map scene.

moody, do games w Day 270 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games l've been playing

This guy makes one of these posts a day. Is that what you call flooding?

moody, do gaming w What's a good slow paced shooter game?

I find they kick my ass because they’re often hard to see until they’re already shooting at me

moody, do games w Should we boycott games with loot boxes?

More important than who you choose not to give your money to is who you do choose to give it to.

moody, do games w Your all-time favorite game? Let's discuss the best options!

I’m still surprised how well received it was, not because I disagree, but just because of the numbers. It’s currently sitting at 95% positive ratings on Steam, and that’s with 229k reviews, for a game that plays so different from what gamers expected out of FromSoft.

moody, do games w Any Xbox 360 Can Now Be Hacked with Just a USB Flash Drive

Doesn’t the Xbox 360 have a sleep mode? Basically you’d only need to do it again if the power goes out.

moody, do games w Rainbow Six Siege X update detailed, as game goes free-to-play on June 10

It’s more cod-like right now, but it’s still more strategic and 3-dimensional. I think once people start getting to know the maps better and strategies start to develop more, the run-and-gun style of play will slow down and people will play more carefully and more objective-oriented.

moody, do games w Half-Life 2 RTX | Demo with Full Ray Tracing and Dlss 4 Announce

It’s just a mod for HL2, so I imagine it can be modded the same way as HL2

moody, do games w Jackbox Games coming to Smart TVs for free

It’s also entirely possible that you can’t host any of the games. If the host owns the game, anyone else can play for free through a browser. It could just be access to the jackbox.tv website from the TV itself.

moody, do gaming w Small, incremental improvements don't make shockwaves like the old massive tech leaps used to.

Lol git gut, my opinion is the only one that matters

moody, do gaming w Small, incremental improvements don't make shockwaves like the old massive tech leaps used to.

I’d say it’s still worth playing, but the story is way more predictable, and they made some things more grindy to upgrade than they were in the first one. Also they added robots that are even more of a slog to fight through.

Those giant turtles are bullshit and just not fun.

moody, do games w Elden Ring Nightreign’s First Network Test Plagued by Server Issues, FromSoftware Issues Apology

Network test where nobody can manage to queue with other people :/

A network test showing that the testing was required.

If you sign up for a network test, you have to be expecting issues like this.

moody, do gaming w What video game franchises do you not need to start from the very beginning to enjoy? What would you recommend as the entry point into your favorite series?

For Metroid, start with 2, then Super is a big step up in terms of feel and gameplay. The first one doesn’t explain anything at all, and compared to modern standards feels quite clunky and tedious (you have to find multiple secret passages to finish the game normally, for example.) It’s worth playing if you’re in the mood for NES-era retro gaming, but it can be frustrating trying to figure it out on your own.

For lore, Fusion is next, followed by Dread. I didn’t like Fusion, felt too hand-holdy for me, I would skip it but many seem to like it. Dread is worth playing on its own though. It’s a much faster pace, more action-oriented gameplay. Fusion added a horror element to the game, but for the most part it’s more for vibe than gameplay reasons. Dread took that scary vibe and moved it into the gameplay.

The Prime series I think is a separate canon story. They can definitely be played independently. They follow a storyline and are direct sequels to each other, but gameplay-wise they don’t require playing other games before. You don’t unlock any important knowledge relevant to one game from playing the previous one.

moody, do games w Stop Killing Games Petition to UK Relaunched

Currently, they don’t even give you that choice. They’re the ones making that decision. Sure, you can buy it, but you don’t get to decide if you want to play their game longer than they want you to.
