You’d have to die a few times to it too even notice it getting easier. Almost nobody wants to grind out a boss 20 times in order to beat it. And if properly done, the variables changed are so small each time, that it’s not noticeable.
It’s a system to help everyone enjoy the game without quitting out of frustration. Because the majority of people, in general, quit after a bit too much resistance.
There’s a quick drop off of enjoyment when a player feels the game is too difficult.
I really hate FromSoft for the utter lack of a difficulty slider in all of the Souls games.
I don’t have the time to grind their games to “git gud” like they want. Just let me enjoy the game instead of wanting to pull my hair out as I play.
I’ve essentially wasted $120 on Dark Souls 3 and Elden Ring because I hear nothing but utter praise for them. Then I realized I didn’t have the time or patience to grind out those boss fights, so I get <10 hours of play time out of them before I have to stop.
It’s probably because so many of them are mediocre or don’t really exist as modern games. It’s kinda sad that out of that list, there are so few 10/10 series there.
I wanted to like the game so badly because it looked like so much fun.
But my brother and I spent 29 minutes getting a treasure just to be steamrolled by a group of three more experienced players that killed us and took our shit.
I get that it’s the point of piracy, but it’s not much fun to spend 20 minutes accomplishing nothing. There’s a reason piracy is illegal in real life.
Maybe this new mode will let me enjoy the world they’ve built a bit more
Bethesda hasn’t made a great game since Skyrim. And tbh, I probably look back on Skyrim more fondly than it deserves because I was in highschool when it came out.
I’ve played 30 hours of Starfield and feel like I didn’t really have fun the whole time. It just felt like a 6/10 game. Very pretty, 10 miles wide, and an inch deep. And there’s too much of it that is actually downright bad.
It’s sad because Bethesda used to be the gold standard for RPGs, but their ambition is getting the best of them. It’s very apparent in Starfield with all the empty space, the same 5 repeated planetary buildings, only like 3 types of enemies, and a severe lack of planet flora/fauna. And the missions are mostly really boring and not challenging.
I’m not hopeful that Elder Scrolls 6 is going to be anything better than mid-tier.
