I suspect given the success of GTA online their priorities have shifted and they’ll want this on as many platforms as possible on release. They’re a GTA online company now, units sold are a secondary concern.
I’ve always dreamed about this one, London 69 updated in their recent style. I think they talked about this before and the problem is the cops in London didn’t carry guns then so it made it difficult to be a GTA game in the typical sense.
I’d argue emulating games is more important to the preserve effort. Unless you have some extremely rare one of a kind prototype game (chances are you don’t) most games have already been dumped at the point. What’s important is these dumps continue to get shared. Emulation drives people to find these games and adds one more seeder to the community meaning the more obscure stuff won’t just be dependent on one person keeping the file alive.
I had Atari 2600 Action Pack 2 for Windows 95, which I didn’t realize at the time was one of the earliest console emulators (though you could only play the games included in the pack).
Then 97-99 had this explosion of console and handheld emulation. Nesticle, SNES9X, No$GB. Remember No$ was a big deal because it could emulate the link cable between two instances for getting all the Pokemon across red and blue.
HD fuckin blows. It’s a cheap remake that screwed up the physics and was mostly lifeless. It was made by the studio that made all the terrible THPS games in the late 2000s through mid 2010s. It’s got a handful of levels from the first two games. It looks and feels like a mobile port.
Tony Hawk’s 1 + 2 is a love letter to the original 2 games. Loaded with content and they nailed the feel. Your muscle memory of the originals carries over perfectly. It’s got all the levels plus a few more. They also added in the revert from THPS3 which is sorely missing when you go back and actually play the originals.
Right?! I’m pretty mixed on 4 but I’d argue 3 was every bit as good or better than the first two. The revert was an absolutely critical mechanic and there were some really fun levels like the neighborhood and the factory.
For real. You want it for free? Cool go ahead and make the mod yourself. All the tools are there. Wait, you don’t want to spend your time learning to code? You don’t want to spend your time learning modding tools. Our time is our most finite resource and you get mad when someone asks for something in return for theirs? People are just up their own asses.
