That would imply they give a shit. Which they don’t. If there’s a chance they can squeeze 1€ extra out of their customers they will go for it, even if it enrages everyone.
You see our intern was walking down the corridor with laptop in his hands after the meeting and he stumbled and accidentally coded in ads, designed format, shaders, online service for serving ads, database for storage and deployment scripts. What are the odds?
Yes. They sued Valve with allegation that they are too successful by providing good service. Sure 30% is too much for some developers, but solution is quite simple… don’t sell on Steam. Problem solved. Go to Epic, GoG, bunch of others. Hell every company now has its own launcher and store.
I have no proof but in my eyes it all smells like Sony and other gaming news are to blame. They hyped up the game to unachievable levels and then held Hellogames to the previously set deadline. I am very happy they sat down and finished the game, although there is new content patch ever few months still. Gave them those 60$ happily even though it’s not my kind of game.
Am not sure there’s a way for them to release HL3 and don’t disappoint huge number of people. Not because they suck at making games but because expectations have grown so so so much they are downright unachievable now.
I would. But I didn’t play a lot of their games. Bastion is kind of unique. Story is pretty linear but its structure is quite a novelty. There’s an awesome narrator that is telling the story, but he reacts to everything you do and has a snarky sense of humor. Game is well designed action RPG with a good variety of weapons and in my eyes very little replay value. Still worth the asking price though.
If you had an option to pay the full price in installments then such excuse would be acceptable to a degree. As it stands now you bought what’s made and then some plans on top of that. Plans that might not come. Sure developer might be trustworthy but they have no legal obligations to fulfill those promises.
So much this. Because optimization part is not guaranteed to come. There are many number of other developers who have done exactly this. Promise specific things, you purchase the game only for them to go… yeah about that optimization thing, it’s far easier if we just change minimum requirements and let the hardware grow into it. After we’ve already paid of our investment.
Yeah, never thought I’d live the day to see it but here we are. Blizzard use to be the darling of all gamers, only one who did things right and released games when they were actually done. Then money hungry shitheads took over.
