E:D has the basics of a good game, but never builds upon them. FDev is deathly afraid of player agency. They want you to play like it’s on rails in a single player game, but have it an “MMO” for the PVP.
They are just talking about it. Going to still be years before they go 1.0. They still haven’t delivered Alpha 4.0 yet. In fact, I believe they are talking 1.0 to distract us from the fact they haven’t delivered alpha 4.0. Likely their server meshing tests uncovered complicated bugs that will take time to deal with.
Meh, this is something that is hitting all industries, not just games. The raising of interest rates to combat inflation is making it more expensive to borrow money. The car industry is on the verge of calamity because they’ve priced cars too expensive to go with the new borrowing rates. Dealers (new and used) can’t lower their costs because they bought cars under the old interest rates and now can’t move them because borrowing got more expensive. Lowering prices too much more means taking a loss. It is hitting every industry. At some point the idiots out there have to realize that 3% inflation isn’t the boogeyman they think it is.
The tech industry is the ultimate sheep following sheep industry. Other tech companies laying people off? I better do it too! The Fear-Of-Looking-Stupid.
My fear is we won’t ever see it because a game like that gives so much control to the players and the crafting/economy and skill system really stains back end databases.
It would be interesting to see what a modern dev could tack onto the concepts. SWG was weak on quests and end game content. You wouldn’t have to make it WoW in that regard, but it could use some of that. Or with the rise of “cozy” games, what extra decorations that could be added.
Hell, take the game system and pull Star Wars out of it. Space games do appeal to the community.
Sub the 7950x3d for a 7800x3d, and swap the GPU for a 4070 or 7800 xt. You can likely swap the MB, but I’ll let someone else speak to that one.
Where I would spend money is with two NVMe drives. A 1TB drive for the OS and a 2TB game drive. You can add a spinning HD for mass storage if needed.
If you really want to save some money, go with an x570 MB and a 5800x3D. But I’d stay with the GPUs from this gen. Downside is you have no room for upgrades down the line.
For reference, I have an x570 MB, 5800x3D, and a 6750xt GPU. I’m not having issues running games.
