GDPR fans always come up with the most ridiculous excuses for GDPR’s terrible quality. “Well at least they’re better than an indie that’s never released a game”, like seriously?
Just like in those stories, these groups are chewing through other aspects of life that are absolutely significant in order to optimize a single metric to the exclusion of all else.
I just wrote a rant about exactly this phenomenon. Literally insane greed, and a sort of simple-minded myopic focus on setting goals based on easily understandable metrics that are ultimately based on wildly questionable premises (and might actually be counter to what the people at the top think they want to achieve) are why literally everything is going to shit.
I don’t see why people would even go to a site to read AI generated articles and be bombarded with ads.
Doesn’t have to be voluntary on the user’s part. Maybe they clicked a link on Google? Or maybe a site they’ve been reading for ages suddenly switches to “AI editors” and it’s never really announced to the users in a clear way
