Hello everyone, I hope your holiday period passed peacefully. The status page is ready, and I'll soon put it online. I've also made some improvements to the new project website, which will be replaced shortly. Today, by the end of the day, two moderators will also appear, more about which will be in a separate post. You can...
Water is wet. You could've easily written the headline saying CD projekt sees future in multiplayer micro transactions. He specifically was hedging that fact with the interview question answer that did not specify between the two. Then this article pops up to carry their water.
The sad part is, they didn't even likely pay him for this.
Good morning, last week we managed to address pressing issues related to infrastructure. Thank you once again for your assistance, Piotr. I will continue work in this area, but it will be less invasive and cumbersome. I have restored the test environments and am slowly getting back into coding....
I check in here quite often, but for now, I'm just focusing on clearing spam and keeping the instance alive. In January, I was working on the AP module, and there has been significant progress in the work, which hasn't been publicly published yet. Unfortunately, at the beginning of the year, I developed a skin condition that...
I don't mind waiting for things to be fixed what with life interfering with things, but I can't find any activity from Ernest lately. He hasn't been, like... hit by a bus or anything terrible like that, has he?
I've "moved" with the intention of moving back if things turn out alright. It's nice the site is functional for us to talk to each other, but at this point kbin is "down."
Looks like Kbin is running a pretty huge federation backlog, as it's taking several hours for comments to federate out. I'm not knowledgeable about how these servers work, but is it teetering on collapsing or something?
With how much you post, I'd imagine it'd be a problem for you. Posting something only for it to show up on their new feeds 3 hours later with zero votes will likely result in your stuff not being seen. Also makes it hard for @PugJesus modding.
Lemmy will not let you post stuff that can get DMCA'ed. It will cause the lemmy instances to lose their hosting provider if they get too many DMCA notices.
Google (and reddit) deals with tons and tons of those requests every day. Now, more than likely, Archive.org would be the one to remove it but that wouldn't prevent whoever is contracted with the rights holder from sending it to hosting providers that link to it as well (after they find said link indexed in a search engine).
It's not about media or taxes, it's about inflated fees for traffic period. It's regulatory capture (which Korea has a long history of) and subsequent collusion by Korean ISPs. Prohibitively expensive to run a streaming service like that even if you have local datacenters to reduce international transit fees (because you still have to connect to the local ISPs who will still charge you). https://carnegieendowment.org/2021/08/17/afterword-korea-s-challenge-to-standard-internet-interconnection-model-pub-85166
Edit: To be clear, this sort of situation is about the only one where to effectively have a streaming service, you'd need to use peer to peer and make it "come from inside the house", so to speak. Even their local streaming services are over the barrel and only the ISPs themselves could actually make an affordable streaming service.
They're leaving the market. If anything Amazon is putting a shot across the bow of the ISPs who are charging these interconnect fees to get THEM negative press and make the Korean public demand a change in the laws so they can get the Internet they pay for.
Amazon may be quitting twitch in Korea, but their cloud services are still paying for the dumb fees.
Appropriate actually. Hanzo main is essentially saying someone thinks they're the protagonist, as they believe they'll single handedly wipe the other team on a flank. That describes someone who steals your pencil. Smart kid.
TL;DR the developers of slay the spire created a fun free card game within 3 weeks to explore and learn the Godot game engine. You can play it here: megacrit.itch.io/dancing-duelists
There can't honestly be a lot of them. I'm sure even folks who donated don't have that much of their personal ego wrapped up in a game engine. Not to say there aren't none, of course, because there's always people who really will cling to anything.
You're generally the spawn of or mantling a god in most elder scrolls games. In oblivion you get to mantle both sheogorath and the shezzarine pelenial whitestrake, though who's to say if they're not just two aspects of lorkhan.
I get they're just shopping it right now, but we are seriously getting like Japan and anime with these fucking streaming live action shows. If you've got an IP that seems like it has a pulse go for it. I don't dislike the game, but the writing doesn't justify it.
Edit: Not to say that I think relying on proven showrunners and creators as a system is any better, mind you. I don't really have a solution to how these multimillion dollar productions should be put together, it just seems really vapid.
In the US, if you're moved to another location for that amount of time involuntarily that's an arrest not a detention. Seems the French code gives more police powers than our constitution.
I was just hoping for more cyberpunk style corporate warfare. I mean a gambling company and a corrupt monopoly decide to fight? Where are the bombings of corporate headquarters? You can't tell me they can't recruit a bunch of mercs to try and save them that 150 million.
Cyberpunk 2077 didn’t have the best launch (lol). But some of us enjoyed the game despite its flaws. In the time since then, they’ve had nearly two years to patch the issues and add QoL....
That creates a significant can of worms in regards to what parts of the character are derived from the source material that is owned by DC. See not allowing sherlock holmes to smile for an example.
I actually think this brings up a good point. Artists they hire for these tabletop game jobs will end up using AI to create a base image or backgrounds and edit it for the project one way or another. They'll do it to increase their own output and income.
Edit: And guys like this will pay you less to extract more profits from you with that in mind of course.
and I am really not impressed. I don’t want to know more about the story, don’t want to build a spaceship that I can fast travel with, don’t want to explore the universe....
The key thing is, their license model and walled garden policies are what created the problem. Wringing their hands when something they knew would happen happens isn't admirable.
