The Cyclops

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

That’s the particular Cyclops’ name

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

See I thought maybe the reason you were WHATing was because you thought the whole name was a type of monster

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

Ah yes. Unless it’s shitting on something, or something negative, it’s not news. Or something anyone would be interested in.

This was more a way for them to keep people putting in quarters at the arcades and selling machines to arcade ops.

It translated to some home games, but wasn’t the focus of putting out all these new versions. It made some sense at the time.

I felt the same way about E:D, and I also enjoyed No Man’s Sky quite a bit.

There is at least a couple of core storyline loops that I think are fairly engaging, besides just setting your own goals.

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah, for the most part ship flying is better in Elite. Especially travelling long distances. But I still enjoy it in NMS for the most part.

…Interloper

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

He was there literally receiving an award for that movie, even

I heard also that even earlier than that, there was an E.T. game that may have been a bad cash grab. I doubt it had any serious impact, though.

1080p (docked). So you’d plan for 1080p.

But you’re actually probably at least partly right. I’m sure they’ve done at least some upscaling and stored at a higher res which may actually take up more space.

You’re trying so hard to do some edgy pessimistic thing and it’s pretty funny how bad you’re failing.

Man, Dune 2 was so innovative at the time. And I didn’t appreciate it enough (I was pretty young). I actually liked Dune 1 better at the time.

It’s also weird to me that you can draw a (almost) direct line from Dune 2 to World of Warcraft.

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

I mean, there was StarCraft 2 after it. And the Warcraft 3 remake thing. But yeah, they mostly lost interest (in anything that wasn’t just an absolute fucking printing press for money like WoW was)

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

?

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

They lost me when they started getting all serious. with the “named” seasons and Church as a tortured AI and whatever.

After that I’ve caught an occasional episode and PSA that were old-school stupid and funny; did it eventually go back to being that in general?

My wife still wishes they featured more Baby Blarg, she loved that guy.

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

Thanks for that!

heaps

Oh, hey, g’day

ripcord,

Ha, I wondered when you said “buddy” :)

They’ve been working on a sequel for quite a while, including doing regular hours-long YouTube videos although I’ve never followed closely enough to get a feel for how far along they are or what their plans really are. Most of the posts are pretty abstract and the videos seem mostly like futzing with assets and tweaking melee modes and things.

Tangent: SC2 is possibly my favorite game of all time for different reasons. And honestly I liked Star Control Origins a whole lot, for anyone who hasn’t played it but liked SC2. It’s rough and dirivitive in some ways, but excellent in others, and improves on a lot of things in SC2 (including a bunch of quality-of-life stuff). And the writing and voice acting and things is pretty good. Actually, 3 of my favorite races come from the game.

I read “mil sim” as “millionaire simulator” initially and this read very differently.

Or just use up and down on the d-pad to move the barrel

Where's Our Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Review? (IGN denied review code) (www.ign.com) angielski

In a bad-vibes moment, they’re denying a huge outlet like IGN a review code. No matter what I think of IGN in particular (nothing good tbh), that’s not something I can find a real explanation for other than “We made DC’s Gollum and want to avoid bad press as long as we can”.

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

Wait, why are the two related? People will be playing one and not have time for the other once it comes out?

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

fuck was it the ring after an hour.

That sounds trippy

It seems like it would have been a lot more friendly to have reached out personally first instead of via lawyers initially. Seems like these guys would have been receptive.

Maybe there’s some legal reason they couldn’t, but doesn’t seem like it to me.

ripcord,
@ripcord@lemmy.world avatar

I guess I don’t. I would have assumed the team would have mentioned it. Especially if there was communication, but it moved forward to DMCA request anyway (i.e. there was a disagreement or something). But seems like the team would have responded pretty quickly.

But yeah, I don’t know for sure.

Still, it seems way more likely that Valve legal just went straight to DMCA.
