George Lucas Explains Why You’ll Never See A 4K Restoration of A New Hope (www.inverse.com) angielski

The ones who were there 47 years ago remember it clearly: Han shot first. But in nearly every version of 1977’s Star Wars: A New Hope that you can find today, Harrison Ford’s charming smuggler was a little slow to the trigger in his face-off against Greedo — one of the many changes that director George Lucas made to the...

reddig33,

Never say never. Disney owns this now and can do whatever the hell they please with it.

reddig33,

Ideas like “midichlorians”? Good riddance then.

reddig33,

Strange. This looks like a decent evolution of the previous game, with a built-in audience.

reddig33,

I didn’t realize web browsing in Chrome required fully textured 3D objects. Not to mention playing 720p video with PCM audio in a separate app doesn’t grind everything to a halt.

reddig33,

That’s not how dynamically loading libraries work. They load and unload as needed.

reddig33,

Id agree about Dune. The first book is great. The rest feel like they were handed off to someone else to write.

reddig33,

Someone at Microsoft thinks they can sell the expensive razor blades without selling razors. Probably why they purchased Activision.

It’s a shame because Microsoft made some interesting hardware for a while.

reddig33, (edited )

They’ve made a lot of good peripherals like keyboards, mice, joysticks. Xbox one used to support Kinect and TV tuners which was nice.

The surface line has been interesting, and I’d be tempted to buy one if they didn’t come with Windows 11 (I need to look up if you can install Win 10 on the newer ones).

They came out with some wild stuff during the Sidekick phone days like Microsoft Kin and Zune. But honestly current management doesn’t seem to be interested in anything but boring but profitable software services (like Xbox game pass) that they can charge a subscription for.

Edit: I wish Zelicam hadn’t deleted his comments. They were good questions/conversation.

reddig33,

No one can beat creepy overdubbed Alicia Witt from the David Lynch version.

reddig33,

Adam Driver doing his best Nick Cage impression in that photo.

reddig33,

🤷‍♂️ if gaming helps to subsidize news coverage, that’s a good thing.

reddig33,

Will Zaslav sell it all off to pay the bills, or just shove all the content into his precious “vault” never to be seen again?

reddig33,

I’m more let down that such a small thing is packaged in a big case. Made of plastic no less.

reddig33,

They could make it out of cardboard at the very least.

reddig33,

Nice logo on the film. Is that a sticker, or exposed directly on the beginning of the reel?

reddig33,

“Star Bird” — A space ship that made noises when you changed its pitch. It could be put together into a couple of different configurations. It wasn’t tied to any tv show, movie, or comic book.

Micronauts — a time traveling group of futuristic translucent android action figures that had cool vehicles and accessories you could reconfigure like Lego. Some of these floated on water, others had shootable rubber-tipped missiles, and some could be put together to make giant robots. The best set to me was the one I couldn’t afford, but that a friend had. A Logan’s Run style tube train set propelled using a vacuum pump. There later was a comic book series that tried to explain their backstory.

ROM — a silver robot doll with red led eyes that made different noises depending on which of his accessories you attached. Also later had a comic book series that tried to explain it all.

reddig33,

Does this support sideloading? Actual cartridges? Is it 2600 games only?

reddig33,

But Apple says only the newest watches have the power to answer Siri requests about the health app. 😆

reddig33,

Not seeing any gameplay in this “trailer”.

reddig33,

Oh, I dunno. Everyone seems to bitch about Apple not wanting to give any leeway to Epic on the App Store. Personally I find Epic ridiculously hypocritical, so I say let them eat dirt.

reddig33,

If there’s an Xbox One version, then there’s really no excuse for it not to load on a PC with similar or better cpu/memory/graphics specs.

reddig33,

Looks like you’re right. You have to scroll to the bottom of the Xbox page to see Xbox X and S as system requirement.
