No you can be a delusional, corporate happy pill taking person that loves live service games and the enshitification of the gaming sphere drowning in microtransactions driven by psychologists designed specifically to prey on addiction to comment.
Well I made a flippant comment about how I thought this would be SEGA being shitty and how people were in denial that SEGA, the publisher that just recently locked new game+ behind a not so microtransaction, would be doing this game dirty.
If these leaks are true, makes me sad but vindicated…
I mean you’ve got people who are defending Bilzzard’s newest horse armor bullshit so yeah.
ETA: Yup, got quite a few Hardcore Gamers^TM in the thread defending this BS already with ‘it’s just cosmetics’, all fighting games do it, or won’t someone think of the devs, like like they think the developers are getting a cut off the money.
Yeah I remember saying that that Bethesda’s horse armor bs would lead to gamers being nickeled and dimed to death and was soundly called a overreacting whinger.
And like you said here we are now and gamers are being outright exploited and you still have people saying it’s all still blown out of proportion like these companies aren’t hiring psychologists to manipulate us to buy this bullshit.
Glad you’re enjoying the CRPG. There’s plenty of older stuff that’s great in that vein too, one of my favorite older CRPGs that has a great story is Planescape: Torment.
Didn’t imply it was failing, hell they’ve announced they’re making profit off of the service, I’m pointing out that your hypothesis that people are trending toward game subscriptions is weak.
Let’s look at it this way, there are 132 million active steam users and game pass is at 30 million with new game pass subscribers are beginning are slowing down and seeming like it’s reaching a plateau.
Here have another article that goes a little more in depth at the current situation with game pass subscribers.
