Your previous statements seem to indicate otherwise:

Lawbreakers was an excellent game that was killed by executive stupidity.

You know what f2p means to me? It means you can play the game for free but the experience is guaranteed to be miserable because you’re going to have relentless ads crammed down your throat for skins and other bullshit I couldn’t give a single fuck about, and no matter how much you pay it never stops.

So if it’s between that and just paying $30 for the game, I’ll take the $30 every time. I avoid f2p games like the plague.

So it’s not f2p then?

How does a f2p game cost $30?

Is this the fastest video game death of all time?

It’s a live service game. Any other game they’d say “Well most of the work is done already” but in this case it requires regular ongoing investment.

I never watched any of those shows, but I remember watching SpongeBob and seeing how it was full of many types of humor, some of it adult but also presented in a way that kids just wouldn’t understand. So there was “something for everyone” and part of why it was so popular/successful.

helenslunch, do games w Does AAAA just mean awful triple A games now?
@helenslunch@feddit.nl avatar

And AAAA is a reference to that Ubisoft exec. It doesn’t have any other meaning, so now it’s obviously just satire for a shitty game that the publisher is overconfident in and wants to charge too much money for (they were trying to defend the $70 price at the time).

There is, however, a financial barrier. One that benefits Sony in no way. Clearly no one wants to play this game anyway. Let it die.

Amazon still does that dumb shit where they allow them to sell a dozen different products on the same listing. And the names are all mislabeled so I don’t even know what product I’m looking at.

You’re quite literally contradicting yourself.

No? I’m quite literally not. Put BG3 in a dedicated buggy-ass launcher, slap some DRM on it, some bullshit kernel-level anti-cheat, fill it with bugs and sell it for $70 and people will complain about it, too, even though it’s a really good game.

you can’t blame Ubisoft alone for this

I’m not and I don’t. Don’t know where you got that idea.

Tastes differ.

This has nothing to do with “taste”. It has to do with anti-consumer shitfuckery.

How does Gulikit have a whole-ass website with zero links to actually buy their products?

helenslunch, do games w Star Wars: Outlaws being a "AAAA Game" for 3 minutes
@helenslunch@feddit.nl avatar

It’s nothing to do with the quality of the game. It’s to do with obscene pricing, a shitty experience, and a general enshittification of the gaming experience that people are financially supporting.

helenslunch, do games w How did Call of Duty get to this point?
@helenslunch@feddit.nl avatar

You have to BUY the game for “open beta access”, like how does that make any sense?

Whole industry has been that way for a long time. Gives them an excuse to ship broken games so when people complain they can say “its a Beta!”.

I’ve seen games stay in “open Beta” for years (looking at you GTFO).

It’s a handheld PC with a built-in controller. I don’t know how you can say that it’s not a competitor. Plenty of people are happy to deal with Windows for whatever reason. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t make it not a competitor.

If I wanted to make an argument for why it’s not, I’d say it’s because it doesn’t matter what hardware you have, they’re all going to be used to buy games on Steam.

That’s because they’re boring 🤷
