That link to the different player types was very interesting. I’m somewhere between an Achiever and Explorer. Probably more explorer, but I am a sucker for hitting the next level, gear upgrade, etc.
I was looking for something to play this morning, and I fired up D4. I finished the story with a Druid, and hadn’t really been back. So I rolled a new Wizard, wondered around aimlessly for a few hours and quit. It just doesn’t have the pull that D2 had for me.
The only possible way that a lot box can be skill based is of they are only given as play rewards. Which I have no problem with. You win a match, you get loot.
But if you can purchase loot boxes, then skill has nothing to do with it.
I have the same issue with any of those long games that I’ve stepped away from for a while. I usually go back in, wander around aimlessly, accidentally mess up what I was working on before, and then realize why I quit playing it way back when.
2 is by far my favorite story with the BEST character development, but it definitely has it’s flaws. And the later games have acknowledged and overcome most of those flaws, but it seems like they haven’t had the substance to make me think “That was SOOO GOOD!” like 2 did.
I’m curious what your take on Borderlands was after paying them all back to back. I’ve been a fan of that world since the beginning, and I’m curious how they stand up without the nostalgia. And of course, which was your favorite?
I did the same! Unrelated to my thumb, but I played through Final Fantasy 4-6 and had a blast. I started 7, but I might be the only person on the planet that doesn’t enjoy it.
