Since I’m a WoW addict, naturally I’m a Blizzard fan, of sorts. But my mind is blown every time I see anything from Call of Duty on the launcher. I’ve been really out of the loop, and recently saw this… and I’m shocked. You have to BUY the game for “open beta access”, like how does that make any sense? Also, the...
The gameplay has changed so little over the years but that’s because it’s unfortunately pretty solid.
I played a lot when I was younger but stopped because I didn’t have the money, hard drive space, or internet bandwidth to keep up with the new games and updates.
With that said, I actually jumped into this beta since it was included in Game Pass and it reminded me of CoD of my youth.
Will I every give them anymore more money? Nah.
Will I play it some more via Game Pass? Maybe.
My biggest complaint is the ecosystem is cancer. They have CoD HQ that acts as a launcher but can only handle a couple games and if you select to play one of the games it can’t play, it fully closes and launches the game you want to play.
Can you simply download and launch only the game you want to play? Nope.
This is all to get your eyes on as much of their content as possible to really squeeze out those last few dollars.
The amount of players I saw with the skins that cost them $100 minimum was crazy. These are very likely the same people that buy every game every year and are precisely the target demographic they’re marketing towards.
I believe they’re referring to the slide and dive mechanics. AFAIK considering this is the first game I’ve played in awhile, you can now sprint, slide, and dive in any direction.
Think like strafe sprinting and diving around a corner as you turn your aim around behind you to shoot at someone you just dove passed.
But my answer to this every time is Red Faction (1, specifically. While I did enjoy Guerrilla, I want to see a throw back to more fully destructible environments on next gen tech).
Not sure where the official announcement of this happened, but videos and discussions of the game are now finally allowed. The game is still invite-only, but expect to start seeing it all over the place now. Popular streamers are already jumping into it....
Red Faction (PS1, PC) - Just one of my favorite series. One of the early FPS’s with destructible environments. Continued with a series, RF 2, RF: Guerrilla, and RF: Armageddon. RF 1 and RF: Guerrilla are the best imo.
Indigo Prophecy, a.k.a. Fahrenheit (Xbox, PC) - “Interactive Drama” with a wild story. From the same studio and precursor for Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, and Detroit: Become Human.
These ate just a couple off the top of my head that I haven’t already seen posted here.
This really does not sound healthy. The game is released, for a certain amount of money. If people don’t like what they get for their money, they simply should not buy it....
Game Publishers: Release unfinished game that gets horrid backlash until they work overtime to patch it to a slightly more playable hell, get caught in an update loop, game inadvertantly becomes live service.
Well, as a guy, I’ve been asked multiple times why I systematically play games female characters in video games, to the point of skipping a game if I’m forced to pay a male one, with a few exceptions (I really liked Albus from Troubleshooters for example). Whenever there’s romance in a game, I’ll also take the F/F route....
I used to always prefer to play male characters and if there was character customization/creation, I would almost always try to create myself in the game.
Now that’s all flipped. I load up old Dark Souls saves and see a derpy version of myself and just cringe a little. I typically only create female characters anymore, but they often just look better and have more interesting hair styles, etc.
It’s important to note that just because you got it on GOG does not guarantee it is DRM free but they do try. (Unless things have changed since I last looked)
Epic Games is useful for the free games they giveaway every week, some weeks better than others. And I know the topic of ownership of these “free games” is another conversation, but I’ll take advantage of it while it’s there and also while giving them little to no money.

For example, for me, I would love a new Populous game based from what was done in Populous 3. That, and a new SimCity based on SimCity 4!
