Counter Strike has been the same game for 23 years, basically every new game is an "update". Porting the game to Source 2 is the single biggest thing that has happened to Counter Strike since 2004 when they moved from GoldSrc, so might as well brand it as a new game.

I hate how AI upscaling looks and I really don't get why everyone seems to be gaga over it. In addition to the artifacts and other weirdness it can introduce, it just looks generally like someone smeared vaseline over the picture to me.
I've tried upscaling with ESRGAN as well and it has similar problems. It messes with the original textures too much. For example, it made carpet look like a solid surface. Skin looks too smooth and shiny. That kind of thing.

There are different types of DRM. Your original post was that Steam "forces always online DRM" and "you never own anything you buy". This doesn't really apply to Steam DRM. You don't need to be always-online and it is not for anti-piracy. It sounds more like you are describing Denuvo which is another thing entirely. Comparing Steam DRM to Denuvo is like comparing the Wright flyer to a fighter jet.
I don't like DRM either but at the end of the day I can just run Steamless so I don't really care. Streaming services like Netflix have the same thing but it all can be pirated anyway so no big deal. It would be different if Steam actually implemented effective DRM, but it doesn't.

You must have rock bottom standards to not expect the most expensive game ever made to at the very least be feature complete after 12 years. And we are talking about a very healthy first here, development costs are more than twice as much as second place and growing every day.
There's plenty of multiplayer live service games that show how it should be done. Yeah sure, add microtransactions and content updates and whatever else but make sure that bare minimum standards are met with regards to the game itself. When I click "Play" in Apex Legends, I don't clip through the floor and explode because it's a feature complete game. Still live service, still getting improved every day, but feature complete. The base game actually working is not optional like in Star Citizen.
Final Fantasy moving away from turn-based because it's "outdated" is peak Square silliness. Have they ever heard of chess, card games, board games, DnD, Civilization, Persona, Dragon Quest, XCOM, Pokemon, Darkest Dungeon? If anything, DMC-style character action games are far more niche.

PC games used to be popular in Japan before Nintendo and Sony changed everything in the 90's. Seems like with Sony slowly disengaging from the Japanese market to cater to the West, PC has come in and filled that space. I'm sure Steam really pushing PC Gaming off of the desk with Big Picture Mode, Steam Deck and excellent controller support has made it much more appealing to Japanese game culture.
Well that's why I said "near-equivalent", $600 vs $450 is comparable. Performance should be close to equal, I don't know what's going on with your particular setup but if your PC has a better CPU/GPU/SSD than a PS5... then it's better than a PS5. Maybe you are getting throttled by some external factor, like temperature or background processes. But I suspect you are running games at full native resolution on your PC and comparing it to console games, but "4k" is never actually "4k" on a console. They often use some tricks to run at lower resolutions using upscaling. You can do the exact same thing on PC if you wish.
Think about it like this: if you we're to sit down and port a Windows game to Linux manually, what would you have to do?
You would need to translate the Windows API calls to something Linux understand. That's what WINE does.
If the game runs a Microsoft proprietary rendering engine, you would need add Vulkan support. That's what DXVK/VKD3D do.
You would need to convert any FMVs that use proprietary codecs to open formats. That's what Proton's transcoding feature does.
You will need to provide a shader cache to the user. That's what fossilize does.
So Proton is doing all of these things that you have to do when you port the game anyway. Why spend the money and resources to do something that Proton does for free? If Proton is in any way insufficient to run your game well, it's open source. You can submit merge requests to Proton yourself if you really care about Linux performance.
It's not about Proton versus Native. It's Vulkan versus DirectX. Games that optimize for Vulkan have zero overhead on Linux, and that's what devs should strive for.
If you want to play the game as a glass cannon DPS machine, you can do that with the right parts. But there's nothing stopping you from actually reading boss patterns and dodging them. The only boss this doesn't apply to is the first one, and I suspect it will get nerfed because of how many people are complaining about it. Some damage is unavoidable but it's minor, every big attack is dodgable and even accompanied by a loud warning sound. I don't think it's unfair.
How would the game give you any more information than it already does without worsening gameplay? Like sure, you can make the boss' moves slower and more telegraphed. Put in Atreus to tell you the Boss' weakness or something while you fight him. I'm personally not a fan of that.

We're talking about Counter Strike here, it's been the same game for 20+ years at this point. Any two subsequent CS games are going to be very, very similar. Most of them didn't even feature an engine upgrade like we're getting now. Plus if you pay attention to the CS2 datamines, it looks like Valve have planning to add way more than just what they've announced so far. There most definitely will be new content.
Aiming down sights was always a console thing. It's extremely hard to make small aiming adjustments on a joystick, so game devs added a button to move the camera in and reduce sensitivity. CoD popularized it, and every FPS shooter wanted to ride CoD's coattails so it's pretty ubiquitous now. For a game like CS it would homogenize the guns a bit, since there's a clear delineation between guns that can be scoped and those that cannot.
