I got one, I know 3 coworkers that have one. And I have at least 5 friends with one too.
I also have about half the amount of ps5 games that I have PS4 I think too. Physical at least anyway. I have more digital not counting PS+ Extra.
I’m also not a console only guy. I have a bazzite PC for a lot of games. But I prefer the big story ones to be played on my living room on my big 4k TV with my Dolby atmos setup. Plus every now and then you get an absolute gem like Astro Bot or the visual wonder if the Demon’s Souls remake (how have they not given Bloodborne the same treatment like what the heck)
Another comment explained what it is but to explain where the name comes from, you remember those capsule machines where you had to collect all the toys? Those were called gachapon machines, often shortened to just gacha (i might be slightly wrong on a little bit of the words, but they are the capsule machines)
For games and other media that gets “released”. Cancelled is usually the term that gets used if it doesn’t come out.
A film that is no longer in the cinema doesn’t get said it was cancelled for example.
For games that cease to be playable after release they are more often described as being shut down or being sunset. Like I’ve never read about an ongoing game being cancelled unless they were specifically talking about an originally upcoming piece of dlc or content being cancelled.
Star wars 1313 was THE game I was waiting for. Got very sad when it got cancelled.
Also all of the in-progress and for some completed content that just got shelved for Disney infinity because the new management at Disney forgot why games mattered. (Same time when they absolutely gutted lucasarts). Just for them to start from scratch again a few years later when they realised they still need a videogame presence. Which makes the losses of what could have been hurt more.
Yeah I’m not against patents in general because it’s meant to allow the company or individual a chance to be only one on the market so they can recoup rnd costs instead of someone else coming in and undercutting them immediately.
The issue is they last too long. Especially idea ones like this for software. 5 years is what it should be around about.
My gaming pc has just switched over to bazzite (as I use it like a console/htpc). Been wanting to do it for ages but needed to get an amd card beforehand for the best experience. Windows really started to grind my gears in the last few months too.
