A bit of a miscelaneous request, but I would kind of like a single button "x-post" for articles so that I can quickly cross post to related communities. If it's a thread (like this one, and not a link), it would link directly to the thread and and also show the comments of the thread (basically becomes a pointer to an article)
Insanely deep rpgs are a bit of an issue for me as well. And I generally do love rpg games, but I feel like the good ones should ease you into decisions a bit better than dropping you into a character creator.
Edit: Idk if it's just me on linux, but it seems like CS1.6 no longer launches on the new update. A bummer, but I had a lot of fun play HLDM just now so I think they'll fix it eventually.
I agree. It's a mistake for Valve to reduce platform support as it becomes a justification for dropping other platforms for other developers as well.
I know that MacOS is a bit of a pain to support right now with how steam and third party applications are treated, but it would be a bigger issue for Apple to drop support if Valve maintained a strong presence on the platform via steam. With the way things are now, Apple might rip the bandaid off and just remove the ability to have third party stores on their computers. This is already what they do with Iphones/Ipads
To be fair to Capcom, I think that an ideal world for them would be not having to compete against games whose expectations and ideations are out-of-wack with the price point and requires huge sales numbers to even be profitable.
For example, SF6 has a full single player mode that exceeds any of the output of previous games. While the quality of this single player mode is sub-par, it's still very ambitious compared to their old method of releasing fighting games (Arcade mode and Versus mode, with some mini games -- that's all!) and it finds itself having to compete with other 60 dollar titles whose scope is often outlandish while knowing full well that a fighting game can never move FPS game figures, for example.
The 60 dollar game made a lot more sense in the era of the PS2 where games were often linear experiences, sometimes lightly to heavily cinematic. A game that was made like MGS2 could be sold today for 60 dollars and it would have a very hard time competing against huge blockbusters like Starfield, with some probably scoffing at the idea of paying 60 dollars for that experience. (See Armored Core 6 -- a good example of this that actually happened.)
Looking for more games like Pokemon TCG for Gameboy or Slay the Spire. Games that are in essence TCG but aren't caught up with simulating the gambling of opening packs.
Because people on mastodon don't feel "captive" to the corporate social media feed and are free to engage however they want.
They blame the people for how hostile their platforms are, but all the while feed us only content that makes us angry or upset -- so yeah, it's not a surprise that the platform is a cesspool when they're the ones stirring the shit in the first place to keep engagement high.
One review (easy allies) made it sound like the online function was non-operational during the review period. You'll probably have to wait until the game drops or a day before to hear any takes on how the online works.
If you do, obviously most of Nintendo's titles are worth having. Zelda games are an easy recommend, but also Splatoon is pretty great.
If not, there's tons of games that are good that aren't Nintendo games that I think are worth having.
Octopath Traveler is awesome. I haven't played 2 yet, but I can recommend 1 if you like JRPGs
All legacy FF games are on the platform to some capacity
Ace Attorney game collections are great if you like visual novels
Basically every indie is on the platform at this point. Hollow Knight, Shovel Knight, Axiom Verge, probably a lot of others but those are some big names that come to mind.
Otherwise, I would avoid ports that haven't gotten good reviews. Also, make sure that the games aren't "cloud only" unless you're comfortable with that.
