Hi Termus, I've worked in a non-profit that dealt with this kind of thing; half of our focus was on people with disabilities. What I like about the XAC is that it has a 3.5mm jack for every button that the XBox controller uses, and the advantage of that is that you can use ANY accessible input that is available under the sun. You didn't have to buy the MS or Logitech accessories for them. I'm wondering why you felt you had to do that?
I agree that Sony's effort is not as good. I feel like it was created for marketing and coolness first.
Ah, I see. I'm quite sure we're in different parts of the world and I guess my experience with parts availability was different. Here the problem is more of cost, as I'm sure your experience has shown, these do get expensive very quick, sadly.
I don't think it'll be a dominant form really. It's a more immersive method, but not many games will need that. Even for me that is still thinking about picking one up, I mostly am looking at using it for seated cockpit play.
Capitalism and a free economy are good when it's serving customers by making the best product or service possible, while balancing that with paying labour to make that happen.
The problem is that nowadays, there's a third party to this for the megacorps: Shareholders, which is where the enshittification begins.
Valve is a private company, so it is not beholden to any external shareholders, which is why it's been able to chart its own course. Still, I do worry what will happen when Gabe steps down.
The First Descendant, whose open cross-play beta is currently enjoying a healthy spot on Steam's most played games list. At the time of this writing, The First Descendant has over 77,591 concurrent players, and that figure continues to rise. It's easy to imagine it landing into the top 10 by the end of the day....
Sorry you got downvoted by this Lemmy circlejerk. There's a certain toxcicity in these parts; basically anything not Linux and offline with the slightest hint of privacy issues is downright hated here.

MW5 was kinda underbaked right? I remember not-so-great reviews. Did you play it? How was it compared to say, MW3, which probably was my favourite in the series?

PC38X is a reasonable headset, but I'm guessing Epos wanted higher margins but couldn't get them to stay in the business. As much cachet as the Sennheiser brand might have had, the gaming headset space is pretty competitive and there are plenty of decent headsets for not a lot of money.
I disagree, unless it's the modmic, there are enough people who either don't have the space nor want to spend the money to properly place the mic (ie as near their face as possible). I'd rather they use some mediocre headset mic then place something that'd be otherwise decent like a Samson Go on a tiny tripod on the table next to their gaming keyboard, 20-30 cm away from their mouth.
The thought came to mind after reading a recent post about Baldurs Gate 3 here but it reminded me of the Japense only PSX game Mizzurna Falls where if you don’t perform a certain action early in the game you are prevented from getting a true ending. While this might not be a traditional soft lock because you can still progress...
I got this on sale, because I liked the original games premise but didn't want to buy a MP-only game. I've yet to play it though. XD I hope it lives up to expecations.
Just Got an 8bitdo Ultimate Bluetooth Controller, What Now?The immediate goal is to use it on my potato pc and play Batman Arkham Asylum.Using the 2.4ghz adapter immediately detected the controller and the game recognized it as well so I could play on the get go....
In response to your header: Play games with it. :P
I wouldn't recommend Bluetooth as a first choice for connectivity, is there any reason you don't want to use the included wireless adapter?
As for games, I have no idea what you like/don't like. How potato of a PC are you using? FWIW some lower spec games I've played in the past several years with a controller included Cat Quest I and II, as well as the two South Park RPGs. There are also some fun co-op games like Overcooked, Moving Out and Unrailed. Overcooked really spawned a bunch of frantic co-op games that are low-spec and controller-friendly, so you can check that genre out as wlel.
So…I’ve been increasingly struggling to run the latest games, as the age of my 6 years old desktop is starting to show, and Starfield denying my GPU just pissed me. I know it’s a bug and I can probably play it, but it’s outright the minimum for this game, and so I’d like a refresh of the worst, or should I consider a...
Also, I went from a 1070 to a 6700 XT myself, can say it doubled framerates in games that needed it (Elite: Dangerous in planetside areas for example), so that's something for you to consider; if you're getting 30 FPS then it'll be a good upgrade, if you're only get 10 FPS it might not be enough.
Ryzen 3700X, however I suggest to not worry about bottlenecking; even if does, it's likely to give you the most FPS per $ spent on upgrading. I ran on a i7 920 for the longest time (including the GTX 1070).
Japanese gamers have continued to embrace the PC as a platform at staggering rates, jumping up 43% from 131.3 billion yen to 189.2 billion yen in 2022. That's a total size of about $1.3 billion US. The data comes from the latest report by Kadokawa ASCII Research Laboratories, an industry think tank which compiles yearly material...
Think Valve only recently partnered with a distributor for East Asia, so the Steam Decks are slowly showing up in Japan and South Korea. Asus of course has a good distribution network, so generally where they're strong you'll see Allys. I still can't get a Steam Deck in a store, but can get an Ally (and probably the Legion Go).
Yea, think Komodo is working with Edion for in-store sales. Saw an announcement somewhere when I was reading about Steam Deck sales in Asia (which sadly, just three countries in East Asia).
Remember Strike Commander? The floppy disk version (with very limited speech as well) wanted some 40-50MB when the common HDD sizes were 80-120 MB. I had a larger-than-average 240MB and it'd still have hurt if I didn't have a CD-ROM drive to play the CD edition instead.
The sentiment isn't wrong. Space is cheap now. Had Star field come out when SSDs were having GPU-like pricing I'd be more outraged, but prices are falling and having multi-terabyte systems shouldn't be an issue. Way cheaper than GPUs that can play the game, that's for sure.
Yea, some kind of custom install would be good. Can't be hard to program a dialogue before download that'll select the right assets to install, saving both disk space and bandwidth.
Holy shit holy shit, I thought they ended development on Grim Dawn.
Downside is, I'll need to start a new character, the systems are dense enough that not playing for a while means picking up an existing character isn't the easiest of things. xD

Hmm, I'm just thinking it's sto;; not really worth it, because for the value to be better the retro handhelds I think you need like quite a few upgrade cycles. which by then you might be outclassed in other areas like screen and what not; if I'm not wrong the Broadcom SoCs are really slow in comparison to what's out there, or did I misjudge the processing power?
