FiniteBanjo,

FiniteBanjo,

Did you submit a support ticket? Maybe try a different browser.

FiniteBanjo,

I installed a nevernude model that was more Nord-looking in my opinion and also some clothes to use with bodyslide and one of the dresses was clipping so it would cover the entire screen in an eternally shifting void and crash if I looked directly at it. 10/10 would play again.

I actually had no idea what was causing it until it happened in a different area of the game and then I connected the dots that two NPCs wearing exactly the same item of clothing affected by mods were in those locations. Otherwise I’d have never fixed it and just been effectively banned from 2 taverns.

FiniteBanjo,

Theres a Sketch on YT where they go through the Dragonborn’s home. Hoarders: Skyrim

Devs should not be "forced to run on a treadmill until their mental or physical health breaks", says publisher of Manor Lords, citing how gamers seem to be trained to expect endless content work now (www.eurogamer.net) angielski

This really does not sound healthy. The game is released, for a certain amount of money. If people don’t like what they get for their money, they simply should not buy it....

FiniteBanjo,

There are a lot of articles like this one lately saying Gamers don’t appreciate the products we’re given and that we complain too much. Those companies. All of them. Manor Lords is still Early Access on steam. If the developer can’t be bothered to develop his unfinished game while taking our money then that’s on him, not us.

FiniteBanjo,

If workers only made unfinished parts and products and complained that consumers don’t appreciate it enough, then that would be a serious problem. This dev is complaining that people badger him on how to improve and finish his game while still selling it as Early Access on Steam.

FiniteBanjo,

Well actually there is something of a standard:

Manor Lords is sold as Early Access. Meaning it doesn’t reach the “enough.”

FiniteBanjo,

No, but it is still Early Access.

FiniteBanjo,

The other day I saw a Developer that was sad people don’t like the new Fable commercial. I was interested so I watched it and it’s some Mulan/Captain Marvel cookie cutter plot where the entire commercial is some dude singing the praises for a random woman (presumably the playable character), and then an evil smoky hand holding an evil wizard staff appears on screen for like 2 seconds. For all we know that female MC could be literally Hitler, we were told absolutely nothing about the game, setting, or characters except that the narrator is a retired hero. They have no depth or motivations.

Hopefully it was just a damn awful trailer and not the death of the series.

FiniteBanjo,

From where I sit, good and critically acclaimed games are plentiful and if you can make a game then it’s easy to make a good one: just don’t be a greedy idiot and make the game you want to play.

If the developer doesn’t want to be badgered about finishing his game then he shouldn’t be selling it unfinished, it comes with the territory. The problem is they went and complained.

FiniteBanjo,

There was zero gameplay in the trailer, except for maybe a walking animation, but I admit I missed the nuance of them describing the antagonist while a bunch of scenes of not-that-person flashed inbetween dialogue.

Storywriting needs to come before all other aspects of a narrative driven RPG like the Fable titles. The development being ongoing is no excuse for that. The only time I can think of that story changes to an ongoing development resulted in a decent product was FFX and maybe the movie Emperor’s New Groove but at the same time it’s hard not to feel like we were robbed of the story it could have been.

FiniteBanjo,

Oh yes it does. We can absolutely judge what we have seen so far. For some reason a narrative of this type is trending: main character is great because they’re great and awesome and everything they do is perfect, and the bad guy person is bad because they just are, and we can’t see this for ourselves so we need to be told?

We see it in movies, TV Shows, and Videogames, and people are rightly getting really sick of it.

FiniteBanjo,

Part of me wants to give some benefit of the doubt but it’s really difficult. Maybe he was trying to meet up at the nintendo panel for upcoming Super Smash Bros Ultimate and the Twitch admins read “I can’t wait to smash with you.”

If DrDisrespect has actually been wronged then we will find out eventually after a defamation suit, part of the reason they settled it last time might be because the mere allegations being released to the public could be harmful but that cat is out of the bag.

FiniteBanjo,

I always knew he was a gambling addict.

FiniteBanjo,

Because I think mob justice is criminal. If Dr Disrespect did wrong then he did wrong, but we don’t know anything other than the fact that he has in fact spoken to a person who was under 18, which in itself is not a crime.

Twitch banned him 3 years after the supposed contact between the two, and attempted to go without paying out his contract termination until he started a lawsuit and Twitch settled it.

FiniteBanjo, (edited )
  1. I haven’t defended him, I’ve consistently said he might have committed a crime, though that would be unlikely given it was 7 years ago.
  2. Labeling everyone you don’t like as a pedophile isn’t a good look.
FiniteBanjo,

Then don’t sexually text any minors. Very simple. Now that I’ve helped you sort out your odd unrelated moral dilema, do you have anything to say about the Doc?

FiniteBanjo,

I don’t know anything about moon pictures, my best attempt was not great

https://lemmy.today/pictrs/image/dc85d2fb-df81-4245-bb2c-33d001571e43.jpeg

But how did they composite 81,000 images without worrying about atmospheric lensing distorting the proportions as it moved across the sky for 4 days? Is it just negligible?

FiniteBanjo,

Huh? Nah it’s an old Canon 1300D. I had to hold the tripod still with sandbags while it took.

FiniteBanjo,

My theory is that they’ve been reallocating teams into Zenimax Online studios for projects like ESO. TBH I’ve been playing it and it’s pretty cool compared to the dated feel of Vanilla Skyrim. If any of you own it, ESO Plus is free until June 19th, you just have to head to the Crown Store and click the free trial button.

FiniteBanjo, (edited )

Combat Difficulty? I haven’t experienced that yet and I’m at CP 385. When does the difficulty start? Are you talking about the super late game trials?

Oh you mean lack of difficulty, yeah I feel that it’s sort of a let down.

FiniteBanjo,

For sure the mechanics are wack, but it’s got fully voiced dialogue for tons of quests, it’s got material gathering and a bunch of other exploration based activities to do. It’s also got equipment and consumable crafting, but TBH not much of it is actually useful except for Provisioning.

Argonian Templar, stuck with the training gear until summerset isles and swapped to Psyjic Gear to prep for trials.

FiniteBanjo,

I risk sounding like a fucking shill, but it’s a purchase to own the game, the subscription is only for ESO Plus which gives access to all DLCs without having to purchase them individually.

FiniteBanjo,

Well

If any villagers were even still alive.

Sorry DA:O family estate, workers, and also my bisexual lovers, rest well knowing that I carried out your vengeance. I guess I also kind of avenged any rats who survived my slaughter, too, huh? Does that make us even?

FiniteBanjo,

AI Voices are just worse or require more work for less pay, and they actually seem less common in the (well made) indie scene than in the Triple A scene.

FiniteBanjo,

Yes, support your local cat girl VAs or they will disappear forever.

FiniteBanjo, (edited )

Maybe a good balance would be hiring a person to speak lines into a microphone. It could employ a person and create art with an acceptable bare minimum quality standard. If you can’t afford that and would rather push the costs onto government subsidies for power and emissions, maybe instead just do text dialogue or pull a classic Banjo and Kazooie single dialogue line randomly jumbled up and pitch shifted for every interaction.

FiniteBanjo,

Strange, the link is working on my post for me.

FiniteBanjo,

If vases at the store were Handcrafted by LLMs, as if that made any fucking sense, then I’d rather go without, yeah.

FiniteBanjo,

Why did you unlike your own comment?

FiniteBanjo,

To obtain respect from others often requires respect for ones self.

FiniteBanjo,

I don’t think the vast majority of games which could make use of AI Voice have the sort of accessibility features to be played by those individuals even if they could hear the dialogue. It’s such a rare occurrence for a blind person to beat halo or an RPG that news articles get written about the examples.

FiniteBanjo,

At this rate we are in fact going to need to have separate awards shows for non-LLM artistry.

To answer your question, though, it’s more than just the refusal but the addition of an anti-AI story campaign.

FiniteBanjo,

If you didn’t care about what others thought, you would not have sent me that reply.

FiniteBanjo,

Using machine learning to clone voices required building upon millions or maybe even billions of lines of dialogue to reach the current point, and only now that it is here can you easily approximate a person’s voice without them even knowing. So yes, it does magically generate sound with minimal input, that is how that works.

The machines that are currently used to shape and paint ceramics are not Machine Learning models. They’re simple and precise automations. Like a program that packages audio to .mp3 format. The equivalent to that would be a machine that designs the vase based on thousands of older examples, designs the packaging, and designs the machinery that prepares it. It’s going to do a shit job that negatively impacts consumers but in the process it displaced thousands of workers in one go, so enjoy the profits.

FiniteBanjo,

I didn’t miss shit, your points are just ass.

FiniteBanjo,

Feels like it doesn’t really help the developers when we keep saying this.

FiniteBanjo,

They were forced to change the name and some artworks after receiving a cease and desist by Sony over the BloodBorne Intellectual Properties.

In the USA, IP protects not only blatant name copies but also applies to any product that attempts to make consumers associate the two or confuse the two. So by constantly saying “ITS BLOODBORNE KART ITS THE KART GAME BASED ON BLOODBORNE! SONY’S IP BLOODBORNE PRODUCT, RIGHT HERE!” we’re actually making future lawsuits more likely.

FiniteBanjo,

Imagine if we had better PS4 Emulators than PS3 emulators, soon.

FiniteBanjo,

Sucks to Suck, pal, I bought my phone bootloader unlocked, play on PC, and have a regular Television.

Maybe if you stopped buying John Deere Tractors then you could see the future you desire some day.

FiniteBanjo,

It was a tongue-in-cheek response to your off-topic statement. I don’t actually expect you to be an avid purchaser of John Deere Tractors.

FiniteBanjo,

I wonder if Lars Bone easter egg equivalents are hidden in their modern games and nobody has figured it out.

FiniteBanjo,

Pirate Party UK is very real and cool imo.

FiniteBanjo,

If companies see titles like Overwatch and Fortnite and want to be MORE like that, then I’m just done with anything other than Indie Games and Singleplayer at this point.
