You would be surprised how much you can communicate by just pinging stuff. I’ve had many missions with randos where a single word wasn’t spoken, but we were all actively pinging high priority targets and putting markers on the map for our intentions.
Payday 2 was good for a while, but then it got buried under a mountain of DLC and people slowly stopped playing because of the aggressive monetization. They came out swinging with the same tactics in Payday 3 with only minor content improvements, so people weren’t as motivated to buy the same game again.
Cities: Skylines 2 appears to be going the same route.
The launch trailer is pretty good, though I honestly feel like the actual graphics at launch turned out better than the trailer showed.
In short, on one side of the war it’s Starship Troopers. On the other side, it’s the Terminator Wars. There is a developer assigned to act as a DM of sorts, and they influence the way the war unfolds while the entire community fights to achieve the goals of said war.
The game is both very fun and very challenging. It has a good balance of making you feel completely badass one moment, and then absolutely humbling you moments later. The missions can get very intense at a moment’s notice. I’ve also had a pretty good time playing with randoms, and toxicity is incredibly rare (I have yet to encounter any, myself).
I could see that, with the horde shooter aspect; but you can’t call in airstrikes and orbital bombardments on top of the horde (and your friends). The missions in L4D are also linear, compared to the open area/extract method of HD2.
I had it on my wishlist for a couple of years and never saw it go on sale. I can now say it’s well worth the price.
I’ve blown up multiple steam engines, flung myself into a valley after spending too much time reviewing my paperwork, crashed into a line of tankers after assuming a main line would be open for me (causing a chain reaction if explosions), and blown out my drivetrain from hauling too much ass down a steep hill and keeping the gearbox engaged. Great times.
The career building system is good, too. You start with a little diesel electric shunter, and can work your way up to the big boys, hauling long trains with dangerous freight. The routes are interesting and keep you on your toes, too.
For context: DirectX support in Intel’s ARC GPUs were really lacking due to running on a transition layer, it was one of the sore spots of their new graphics card. This update looks like it will help massively.
Lately I was trying to record some gameplay from my laptop using MSI afterburner. The game was old and was easily hitting 100+ FPS, so I recorded with x264vfw with fast settings at 90FPS....
Considering YouTube and Twitch can’t show greater than 60 fps, there’s really not much point to going higher unless you’re trying to get higher quality slow-mo footage.
If you’re still thermal throttling, you may want to consider 30 fps.
I’ve been loving BattleBit Remastered lately. It’s cheap, fun as hell, and the very small dev team has been very active and responsive. I bought 3 more copies to give to friends so we could squad up.
Exactly. I went in blind. No trailers, no interviews, no hype. All I knew was it was a Bethesda space game. It started off slow, but after about 12 hrs (half of which was me goofing off and gun running for money), I’m starting to really like the game.
Seeing a trashcan explode into a tesseract-can is pretty funny, albeit a bit concerning about what other props have multiple copies embedded in them. I do hope Bethesda seriously re-evaluates their stance and does some optimization and scrubbing. The game runs ok on my system, but my card should not be screaming as hard as it is.
Copies of the Premium edition were included with a lot of graphics card sales, and there’s been a lot of upgrading going in with some card prices coming down. It could be a significant factor.
