DebatableRaccoon, do gaming w Grand Theft Auto VI Now Targeting Fall 2025 Release, Take-Two Confirms

Personally, with the experiences I had with GTA V and looking at how far both R* and Take Two have fallen in my esteem, I won’t be buying it.

“can’t wait to buy” sounded pretty sarcastic to me

DebatableRaccoon, do gaming w Helldivers 2 gets delisted in more countries without PSN access, blindsided devs call for it to be "available worldwide" | Gamesrader

Guess they’ll have to take it up with the overlords

DebatableRaccoon, do gaming w Helldivers 2 remains delisted in 177 countries and territories even as Sony backs down on PSN requirement, Arrowhead CEO says 'I won't rest in my desire to have it available everywhere'

CEO says “I want to make more money”. Crowd responded “No shit”.

I’ve seen a theory that Steam is holding, possibly even for a time when Sony puts it in writing that players won’t need a PSN account permanently before they’re willing to relist the game which I think is a fair desire at this point.

DebatableRaccoon, (edited ) do gaming w Can somebody explain why game makers don't start their own companies together?

Short answer: money. It’s no secret devs are usually overworked and underpaid so even a large-ish group of developers from even some of the more popular companies getting murdered simply can’t afford to start a business. Some of them could go the Kickstarter route but few would be successful as is the way for Kickstarter.

DebatableRaccoon, do gaming w Government Response - Petition: Require videogame publishers to keep games they have sold in a working state

I don’t disagree but aside for The Crew (at a time before Ubi crafted a reputation as a bunch of scumlords) I haven’t bought one yet the market is still littered with them. I used to be one of those people who would preach from the gospel of Jim Fucking Sterling Son and just like the original, I’ve only watched things get predictably worse.

Unfortunately this as a suggestion doesn’t fix the problem of games that are being stolen now, only the ones you don’t buy in the future, assuming things don’t get even worse. It’ll only get worse before it gets better. Voting with your wallet is a fix for the future and only if people aren’t short-sighted morons (something you should absolutely never bank on) but we need a fix for the past.

Then what do you suggest?

As if this comes as a surprise in any capacity. Governments are the biggest criminals out so why wouldn’t they back up other thieves so long as they’re also worth millions already.

That said, this reads as though they truly think the protections that are already in place are good enough. It’s the standard governing body problem of being at least a decade behind, they still live in a world where things can’t just be unplugged by someone not inside your house.

In which case, I’ll clarify that I meant the people who bought, found it was borked then chose to wait for updates instead of getting an easily deserved refund.

Given the botched launch, this isn’t much of a surprise. Only thing I can say is that I hope it serves as a lesson to people with the mindset of “this game’ll be great ^in 5 years^”

DebatableRaccoon, do gaming w Steam Deck is the ❝Biggest Threat❞ to Xbox [Fan The Deck]

I couldn’t agree more. Back during the initial pitches of the Steam Machines, I was a supporter of the concept and was looking forward to the release. In my market, they took a long time to release and ended up being stupidly expensive. To give an idea, in my market an i3-powered unit was expensive as an i7-powered one in the US despite not having that problem with PC components or even prebuilts. Eventually I spent the money on a parts to build my own rig that was significantly more capable than what the Steam Machine of equal cost would have been. I found little ways to make being a couch PC gamer viable without breaking the bank on horribly expensive niche products like lapboards and it’s enabled me to become a PC gamer despite having been a console boy for so long. It’s a shame because I think Steam Machines would make PC gaming so much more approachable to the average consumer (which I was at the time) and I hope they still manage to in the future.

DebatableRaccoon, do gaming w The Way Forward, an update from the team behind Cities: Skylines

This screams so damn fake. If they ever wanted to make a good game, they should have made it before releasing it, let alone prioritising DLC for a game they are more than aware of being borked at release.
