Computerchairgeneral, do games w DC Comics adamant The Wolf Among Us' source material is not in the public domain, as its creator calls them 'thugs and conmen' and insists it is

Not surprising that DC is pushing back on this, although I'm not sure if there is anything they can do if Willingham is right and he can put his characters and world in the public domain. Although I suppose they could just send out cease-and-desist notices to anyone trying to use the property and hope no one challenges it.

Computerchairgeneral, do games w Unity reportedly told dev Planned Parenthood and children's hospital are "not valid charities"

Unity really just keeps stepping on rakes right now huh? Can't wait to see how they manage to make this situation even worse before it's over.

Computerchairgeneral, do gaming w Cult of the Lamb Developer Threatens to Delete Game on Jan 1 Amid Unity Backlash - IGN

It would be a shame if they were forced to follow through with this threat. Cult of the Lamb is a great game. I'd be curious to know if this changes their plans for their next big content update, which they'd tentatively moved to late 2023 back in August.

Computerchairgeneral, do games w Starfield Bug Forces Players to Change Gender to Fire Guns

Bethesda. Bethesda never changes. But seriously this has to be one of the odder bugs I've seen in a Bethesda game.

Computerchairgeneral, do gaming w Here Are Some ‘Starfield’ City Maps, Since The Game Doesn’t Have Any

Once again fans are stepping up to help Bethesda patch up their latest release. Still, the fact that there are no city maps is just kind of baffling. I could understand a bad map or a confusing map, but just a bunch of icons in blank space? It still feels like it should be a glitch even though it is apparently completely intended.

Computerchairgeneral, do games w [Rumor] Embracer reportedly considering selling Borderlands developer Gearbox

Honestly, I'd completely forgotten that Embracer had bought out Gearbox. Curious to see who ends up acquiring them, if anyone actually does. Also have to wonder just how many studios Embracer is going to end up selling off or shutting down by the end of this.

Computerchairgeneral, do gaming w Skull And Bones Creative Director Has Reportedly Left

If/when this game releases I'm looking forward to the videos and articles charting the troubled development cycle from start to finish. At this point, there has to be a lot of material there.

Computerchairgeneral, do gaming w GameStop Boss Says Disc Drives Should Be Required On Game Consoles

Obviously, GameStop has a vested interest in discs sticking around, but it feels like that ship has sailed. Can't remember the last time I bought a physical game and it wouldn't surprise me if the next generation of consoles do away with disc drives altogether. Not really sure how to feel about that. Kind of sad having grown up using discs, but at the same time, it just feels inevitable that consoles are going to move to digital-only distribution.

Computerchairgeneral, do games w It sounds like Bethesda’s Indiana Jones game will be revealed in 2024

Not that interested in Indiana Jones as a franchise, but I'm curious to see what MachineGames can do with it. I could see some interesting traversal and combat gameplay with the whip, but I guess we'll learn more next year.

Computerchairgeneral, do gaming w Survey finds more than half of game developers experience crunch

The IATSE discussing unionization is good, actually unionizing is even better. Although, I'm not sure how much unionization would actually do to curb crunch culture. It will obviously help on some level, but with the idea of crunching so ingrained in the industry, I feel like it will take a while for anything to change.

Computerchairgeneral, do gaming w What would you be interested in out of a modern games focused journalism outlet?

Generally, what you have on the list is what I want to see from a gaming news outlet. I especially like the idea of focusing on older games, mods, niche communities, and that sort of thing. I guess if there was more of something I wanted to see in games journalism it's more in-depth coverage of gaming topics and less rushing to cover the latest AAA release. I'd much rather be reading a long-form article about microtransactions or watching a video essay on the possibility of a video game actor strike than reading about where to find the best ship or weapon in Starfield. Of course, I'm just some random person on the internet, so take that all with a grain of salt.

Computerchairgeneral, do gaming w I Simply Do Not Have Room On My PC For Starfield

I mean, I can kind of understand why giant RPGS like BG3 and Starfield need to be so large, but it just feels like every game nowadays is going to eat up a huge chunk of your storage no matter what it is. With both console and PC games moving to SSD as the standard storage medium, I'm hoping that developers will actually figure out how to optimize for storage space, but I'm not holding my breath.

Computerchairgeneral, do gaming w Volition (Saints Row developer) shuts down

Disappointing, but not surprising given how poorly received the last Saints Row game was and how Embracer made it clear they were going to be closing studios once their Saudi deal fell through. Hopefully, some of the studio can land on their feet, but still, thirty years in the industry just to get shut down like that.

Computerchairgeneral, do games w Fans won't hear anything about The Elder Scrolls 6 for years, Pete Hines says

Not all that surprising honestly. Starfield is going to be Bethesda's focus and main talking point for a few years at least. And who knows how many games are scheduled between it and ES6, whenever it comes out. Given that Bethesda generally likes a short window between reveal and release I'm wondering just how much they regret teasing a game that might not release for another three or four years.

Computerchairgeneral, do gaming w Sony raising PS Plus pricing by 33%

Well, that's another reason to consider completely switching over to gaming on PC. The free games are nice, but the quality always varies month to month and I really have to wonder if it's worth it to stay subscribed.
