Glad to see Starfield reach another Bethesda game milestone: outsourcing your bug-fixing to modders. More seriously, I'm excited to see what modders end up being able to do with Starfield once they get used to making mods for it.
I get their argument that a city builder may not need high frame rates, but the 5-10 fps people have been reporting doesn't seem ideal either. The management definitely should have given the devs time to work out these issues, but I'd imagine the profits they made from going ahead with the launch will outweigh any criticisms.
Not the biggest fan of extraction shooters, but the permadeath mechanic sounds interesting. Although I'm not sure how common that is in this kind of game.
Been playing World of Horror since it entered early access, great to see it finally getting a full release. It is a great time if you're a Junji Ito fan or just a fan of cosmic horror in general.
Good riddance, but the fact that he's getting to walk away with a presumably hefty payout kind of sours the whole thing. Hopefully, Activision employees get better management out of the merger, although that is a pretty low bar to clear.
Kind of funny, given how desperately gun manufacturers try to blame video games for gun violence. Honestly, I'm surprised this kind of thing doesn't happen more often. I mean if the oil industry is using Fortnight to reach younger audiences, it makes sense that gun companies would target people who play shooters.
I mean, people have been speculating on a PS5 Slim for a while now, so that might be why fanfare around it is so muted. On the other hand, I do get what the article is saying. This whole console generation has just felt weird. Obviously, the pandemic played a big role in that but sometimes it's hard to believe that this generation started three years ago. It doesn't feel like there have really been any must-have, generation-defining games on either console at this point.
Didn't Disney drop out of gaming during Iger's first run as CEO? He seemed pretty disinterested in gaming outside of licensing IPs. Then again his opinions may have changed over the years. Not sure how I feel about EA being bought up by Disney. On the one hand, Disney gets one step closer to being an all-consuming pop culture monopoly. On the other hand, at least Disney doesn't have a console or platform to make EA games exclusive to. Well at least not yet.
Good to see all the rumors finally confirmed, feels like there's been speculation about a slim model since the PS5 launched. Hopefully, they've sorted out the worst of the supply issues and the PS5 Slim won't be as hard to find as the PS5 was when it first launched.
Generally, I like using achievements to figure out where people called it quits on a game. Like Saints Row the Third. 90% of people cleared the first mission, but the percentages drop with each successive story achievement until you've got the achievement for the last mission which only 27.9% of players bothered to finish. Or you have Hades where around 50% of players just never finished a run of the game and only 25.6% completed enough runs to see the main ending.
Having trouble giving Sony the benefit of the doubt these days, but this move just seems odd. I imagine destroying unsold merchandise is fairly common when an agreement ends, but merchandise that was sold, but not shipped? From the letter, it seems like their agreement with Sony was suddenly terminated, which usually doesn't happen without cause. If it was just a normal case of the license expiring you would think Gaming Heads would be aware of that in advance. Also, sending disgruntled customers after a Sony employee who may or may not have signed off on the decision doesn't look like a good move. Definitely curious to see if more comes out about this.
Curious to see the differences between the "real" plans and the leaked ones. Obviously, some of the dates are off since some of those games haven't been released yet and I have a hard time believing Elder Scrolls 6 is coming out next year. I could see some of those games being canceled, but it's hard to see plans around the midgen refresh changing up too much. It makes sense to have something to compete with the PS5 Pro that Sony is probably going to release next year and an all-digital Series X would be a good way to test the waters for going completely digital next generation.
As someone who was hyped for Cyberpunk but backed out due to all the negative press, I'm cautiously optimistic about Phantom Liberty. I was a little concerned back when they announced the game would only have one major expansion, but the free update revamping the game has eased a lot of those concerns. Looking forward to finally picking up Cyberpunk once the update and expansion are out.
