The other games that have had this requirement at least had some kind of store/online function somewhere. AFAIK, GOW:R doesn’t have any online functions. What in the hell is the account even for?
Most games since the mid 2000’s have been designed for everyone to have an easy time going through the game so that no player is left feeling like they can’t finish it. That’s one of the main reasons I fell into Dark Souls. Came at the absolute height of the “super easy” trend and is actually challenging because it does not give a single fuck if you’re able to beat it or not.
Even other souls likes are mostly easier than the OG. Biomutant is one such game. It’s a soulslike action/adventure game intended for the adolescent/teen market.
The most annoying thing, IMO, about most modern “RPGs” is that they are barely even RPGs. Like most of them are only an RPG in the fact your character levels up and either can upgrade their stats or get perks or new powers as you progress. There is absolutely nothing else about it to make it an RPG. Like… Diablo. Nobody considered Diablo to be an actual RPG back in the day when the first 2 were the top dogs. And yet 90% of RPGs today are essentially like Diablo; action adventure games with some character development mechanics.
A real RPG, to me, is something like BG3. A game where you have actual choice in how the story plays out. Not the “same shit, different build” most are today. I love me some Fromsoft games and souls likes; but I don’t think of them as RPGs at all, despite that being the genre the developers say they are.
I find it really weird that in NHL24 they have very limited ads and most of them are just EA’s own shit. As a hockey fan, it’s actually a little jarring because real arenas are just plastered with ads for a variety of shit. Kind of a weird thing to complain about, but I mean… It’s trying to look as real as possible; having real-world ads in the real world way goes a long way to accomplishing that, IMO.
Plus I think it would be cool as hell to see local businesses advertised based on the arena. It would add to the feel of realism, while also benefitting those local businesses.
Right on the front of the console, with the red banding. The system didn’t come with it. It was only needed for one game (DKC64), which it came bundled with.
I remember Thor saying that not tying a single player campaign to a server would be bad for developers and Louis barely covered that statement here. How? How would keeping single player and any server-based systems separate hurt the dev? Just plan for this from the beginning. 🤦♂️

There is one I remember hearing about a while back and I want to find it again that was really dope because it was a full on simulator and had a easy to use builder to build your own tables. People were recreating actual tables for it, though only those in the public domain.
