These are the sort of things that jr developers love to make jokes about that get tiring so quickly. Same thing as someone naming their new project something like “Project Mordor” or something. Fun for about ten seconds, annoying for the next ten years.

Instead of helping a fan who needed to know, you got a 10 second joke out, and now whenever someone googled it that will pop up making it frustrating.

A senior engineer would say:

In the balls. (But for real it’s Documents/Saves/MyGame.sav)

I am not saying you can or you can’t, but if you could, and I’m not saying you can, I would have full DRM-free backups of every Blu-ray I own.

Fun thing, even a DVD or Blu-ray is technically licensed by them, and they claim they have the right to revoke it whenever they want. In the case of Blu-ray they have tried to do this via “updates” to the Blu-ray players

The surface is one of my go-to examples of Microsoft’s ineptitude. The surface is honestly an amazing tablet. It works very well, great battery life, and you can either use a standard tablet mode or it as a full Windows machine. For businesses too it was a slam-dunk, where since it’s Windows it already interfaces with most IT systems out of the box, no special setup or store integrations or Apple stuff, it’d work with Microsoft AD. Unfortunately it followed the pattern.

  • They gave up on tablets before fully vetting the market
  • Apple lands the iPad, and it takes off, is groundbreaking
  • Microsoft got butthurt that Apple made profit on a thing they gave up on
  • They take years coming up with the Surface, in the meantime every 3rd party came out with an Android one that was slow and choppy so the people have all decided iPad was the winner
  • Microsoft hired thousands of engineers and pivoted the entire world to touch, forcing Windows 8 down everyone’s throats, making the public hate it
  • Surface finally lands, but everyone already hates the interface, and anyone who wants a tablet already has one
  • Microsoft quietly lays off everyone. Surface is still around, but on life support.

Microsoft following the same pattern.

  • There is a need in the market they are aware of, but don’t care
  • Someone else makes a huge splash by doing a great job
  • Microsoft gets butthurt that someone else is making profit
  • They take way too long coming up with a rival
  • Microsoft hires thousands of engineers to work on the product
  • The rival is way too late to market, and everyone has already chosen the cool product
  • Microsoft quietly lays people off and kills off the product

God of war and Jedi have done great jobs of finally showing AAA they can make a smaller game and still have a great following. I’m so sick of giant Ubisoft worlds that have nothing to do in them. They’re boring.

I think the “owner” is up for grabs since the original repo was DMCA’d. All I know is Nintendo will be playing a game a whack a mole for quite a while, it’s very easy to fork a repo.

Man that is hilarious. I’m full on liberal don’t worry, but I’ll always think it’s funny when politicians try to get down with the kids. It always ends so terribly. Just… Stock to issues they care about, okay?

It’s not what you think Dragon Age should be. I personally am excited for that. I loved Inquisition and hated Origins, I loved the high fantasy romp with Sera and Varric making quips all day. To me, that was the best story and characters in the entire franchise, and my opinions are just as valid as yours. If you didn’t like it, fine, but I think it’s weird to judge a game negatively because it changed.

To give a reverse example for me. I don’t like where Halo went, but I have a lot of friends who love Infinite’s multiplayer. Now, I could go online and tell people that they shouldn’t play it because 2 and 3 were the best ones - or I could say nothing and let people enjoy things.

God this, this right here is what I’m sick of in gaming. The negativity and hoping that things fail. Gaming has always been negative but ffs lately it’s just been awful. There used to be a time where people would say “Eh, it’s not for me”, now it’s “I hate the style and everything about it one star bandwagon folks let’s all talk about how terrible and awful this game is and shit it down and out” And I say this as a dragon age fan.

I’m willing to give it a fair shot - and I think real fans are willing to give the benefit of the doubt before shooting it down. Am I fan of the art style? No, not really. The gameplay? How could I I haven’t played it yet. Controlling companions? Personally I never used it much anyway. I would never hope for a franchise I love to fail, that’s such a weird thing to me. I’ll see how it is when it releases, and I hope I have fun.

I don’t care if it’s the dragon age I knew. I want it to be a fun game. I don’t care if it’s spongy, or the fighting is a little off, if they can get me to have fun - that’s my metric. More importantly, I know others do care about those things. What I won’t do is rage online or hope it fails because it doesn’t cater to me.
