kamiheku, (edited ) w What's the best way to rip music off Spotify so that I can store it on my HDD?

DownOnSpot is the only one correct answer.

Edit: Zotify and Onthespot (which has a GUI) look good, as they too download straight from the source.

AphoticDev,
@AphoticDev@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Direct links aren’t allowed, you need to edit that. We can talk about piracy, but no linking.

NightAuthor,

Even if it’s a link to a tool, not a specific piece of content?

fox,

I think you misunderstood the rule about not linking to pirated content.

AphoticDev,
@AphoticDev@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Maybe. I suppose we could always report the comments linking directly, and let the admin decide, couldn’t we?

kamiheku,

Go ahead. The rule is about copyrighted content, not open source tools.

fox,

No, you have misunderstood what the rule is about.

You’re not allowed to link to pirated content, such as a download link to the Barbie movie.

But you’re free to link to places that discuss the Barbie movie, places that discuss where to watch the Barbie movie, and places that teaches you how you can rip the Barbie movie yourself.

The only things you cannot link to, are direct links to pirated content

@SaltySalamander@kbin.social avatar

Is it better?

kamiheku,

Huh, wasn’t aware of that one! Looks like it works in a similar way, so should be good. Has a graphical user interface, too, so more approachable. Thanks!

lksaar, w what's the best way to get F1TV in the UK?

I used to use v2.sportsurge.net/home2/ , you can usually find a working stream.

Nowadays i use sportscult.org, it’s a private tracker that also offers live tv, and i haven’t really done anything but watch f1 on there. Less ads/buffering. They have open signups every now and then.

nonearther,

Sportscult is saying I need invitation to register

bernieecclestoned,
@bernieecclestoned@sh.itjust.works avatar

You can buy in according to this page…

sportscult.org/index.php?page=ndonate

Is it legit?

lksaar,

I kept an eye on www.reddit.com/r/trackersignups/ (well the previous one calles r/opensignups, they open registratations every 2-4months for a couple of days usually.

I never tried donating, and it is a private tracker most foremost, torrenting replays and the likes. Live TV is just an addition, so I’d be a little weary of donating for something that isn’t the main objective of said site.

you could also try your luck asking in that weekly reddit thread for an invite, it might work out

lksaar,

They have open signups every now and then, keep an eye out for them. It prob gets posted here: www.reddit.com/r/trackersignups/

mang0bus, w Is movie-web down for anyone else?

jungekatz, w What's the best way to rip music off Spotify so that I can store it on my HDD?
@jungekatz@hexbear.net avatar

I use telegram for most of my pirated stuff , there is a telegram bot that does that for u !

rmuk,

Tell me more, my good Sir/Madame/Homeslice.

jungekatz,
@jungekatz@hexbear.net avatar

Well telegram has most of the stuff you need , just search in its search bar Music download bot , and boom you get a bot downloading music for u. Movies , no problem , just type the name and download the movie !

brcl,
@brcl@artemis.camp avatar

Does it do books?

Xy_lemmy,

Z-library has a good Telegram bot. All you have to do is register on their site and then create your own bot which you then connect to Zlibrary. They have a handy guide here en.zlibrary-za.se/z-access#telegram_bot_tab

selokichtli,

I’ve been told that in Telegram you can find bots to download music from Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Deezer. Probably Spotify too, but those are the ones I know.

Chewy7324,

Depending on the bot you might not know where the audio is coming from. Most tools I know of download from youtube and add metadata (title, album, artist, …) but sometimes also include noise from a music video.

Though Bots in general are awesome.

selokichtli,

Not the case of these at all. The quality is incomparable.

canni, w Need help to make a super simple setup for my mom !

vd1n, w Pirate Netflix

Get stremio.

Psythik,

This. Stremio is exactly what you’re looking for OP. Works just like Netflix, runs on your TV. Every show/movie from every streaming platform is there.

Just make sure to install the Torrentio and Streaming Catalogs plugins to get the free content to show up. I also recommend a Real-Debrid subscription cause it it allows you to stream instantly without delay. (In fact, you can download any torrent you want instantly with Debrid.)

chimmy_chonga,

Is this possible without torrents? Like getting content from a streaming website rather than torrents?

Psythik,

Stremio uses torrents, but they’re direct downloads. Everything is stored on a separate server. It’s similar to a seed box, except no waiting cause the files were already downloaded beforehand by what’s called a “Debrid service”.

You can also use Debrid to directly download any torrent you want, not just movies and TV. I have a gigabit connection so it’s way faster than any torrent client could ever dream to achieve.

drwankingstein,

elgordio,

Alternative solution: pay for YouTube premium.

ReversalHatchery,

You mean feed the investors of the company that makes tons of money by exploiting users private life? Or the one that runs false political propaganda in unskippable ads? (No idea about US elections, this is a much smaller country that I know).

Thanks but no.

some_guy,
@some_guy@kbin.social avatar

You could try avoiding them altogether then.

ReversalHatchery,

If you’re not ignorant then you too know that’s not how it works. There’s too much content on youtube that you can’t find anywhere else, and entertainment is only a small part of it.

Or when I next complain about schools forcing kids to use google classroom, will you come and say that I should put my children to expensive private schools that don’t do it (yet)?

Nioxic,

nvidia shield or a pc

rtstragedy,
@rtstragedy@hexbear.net avatar

I bought the high end nvidia shield last year and just out of warranty both the bluetooth and wifi chips died. It’s basically a brick now and I am probably never going to buy another. Even more stupid as I have an old tube-shield that is still running just fine from like 2018. I ended up installing libreelec.tv on an old pi 4 I had lying around. HDR, multi-language subtitles, using existing TV remote over HDMI-CEC, all work. That being said, I only use it for Jellyfin.

I hope anyone use using a shield does not have the same experience I did.

quirzle,
@quirzle@kbin.social avatar

Did you try a warranty claim? Nvidia is pretty well-reputed for being flexible about that sort of thing. The warranty is 2 years in some countries, so it's not like a huge leap that they'd honor it for one bought last year.

vildis, (edited ) w What's the best way to rip music off Spotify so that I can store it on my HDD?

i find most music i search for in higher quality (doesn’t have everything) on slavart.gamesdrive.net

it’d be a pain to download full playlists tho

maxprime,

Lidarr can do this, but it downloads the full album of each song which may or may not be a feature in your use case.

Valmond,

Gotta read upp on all these arr! softs, looks like there is a whole eco system around them too.

OrangeXarot, w What's the deal with Steamunlocked.net?
squaresinger,

Huh, doesn’t sound too bad. Adblocker takes care of the ads. Slow host, oh well. And the last point I don’t understand.

Tippon,

IGG /nosteam uploads presumably means that they are the sources of the games. I don’t know a huge amount about game piracy, but it sounds like IGG / nosteam are not trustworthy.

Infiltrated_ad8271, (edited )
@Infiltrated_ad8271@kbin.social avatar

IGG is very toxic website that has a history of adding various types of malware (both web and games), including cryptominers.
It's higher on that list, even though for some reason it only highlights the (barely coherent) silliness that it has DRM.

I'm not know the nosteam website, it's odd that they mention it on the list but it's not listed.

Pantrygheist,

Never looked in IGGs direction ever since their spat with gog-games. It showed me they would bury other crackers if they had the chance.

Ganbat,

FMHY’s mod team has moved from Reddit, or at least isn’t as active as they used to be.

They run a site where these lists are gonna be better maintained.

Closed-source AI models.

Books3 corpus would like you to know that all the data in it is from copyrighted books. It has reportedly been widely used in closed-source AI LLMs. “Rules for thee, not for me” shit. They’ll break copyright and then copyright what they made from it.

huggingface.co/datasets/the_pile_books3

Books3 is literally everything from the Bibliotik private tracker for books.

So yeah, fuckin roll out the cannons, mateys, let’s sink these hypocritical fuckers.

Even_Adder,

You’re allowed to train on copyrighted works, it isn’t illegal for anybody. This article by Kit Walsh does a good job of breaking it down. She’s a senior staff attorney at the EFF.

dingus,
@dingus@lemmy.ml avatar

I didn’t say it was illegal, I said it was hypocritical.

Even_Adder,

Oh, my bad.

aldalire,

This has the same vibe as Github (owned by microsoft) training its AI Copilot on repositories under the GPL license, which specifically forbids any work based on it not be made proprietary. Literally a blatant disregard for the license, but it’s ok because it’s a mega-corporation doing it

murtaza64, w Best setup for new PI4 Download Box

Any Linux distro should work for the setup you want. I have radarr, sonarr, sabnzbd, deluge and jellyfin running on an Arch setup, but something more accessible like Ubuntu or Debian should work fine (although I’m not familiar with whether the Pi4 can power those heavier distros). If you’re comfortable with the command line, it doesn’t matter much which distro you pick since you can install and configure all those apps over ssh.

MSKX,

OK, thanks.

Yeah I’d rather not be too reliant on my (limited) command line skills!

Hopefully the Pi4 with 8gb is comfortable enough with a slightly heavier distro.

Excrubulent,
@Excrubulent@slrpnk.net avatar

Plenty of mainstream distros have versions designed with an RPi in mind. They should be designed lightweight for that purpose, but also the default version for rpi is called raspbian, and it tends to have the most support for rpi applications. If you’re not committed to a particular distro for any reason that’s a good place to start. All the software should work regardless.

If you want the whole setup to be headless (no screen), you’ll have to do a lot of work in the command line. If you want a screen to play things on, well then just the regular OS version should be fine.

It’s also possible to set it up with VNC so you have a headless server that can give you a desktop over the network: desertbot.io/…/headless-raspberry-pi-4-remote-des…

Anything serving a desktop will be more resource intensive. I’m pretty sure the VNC option should have minimal impact whenever you’re not connected to it.

Also though, no matter what you do, it’s linux so you should accept that you’ll need to spend some time in the command line to get things done. It’s getting better with making things accessible via GUIs but I think it may always have a heavier reliance on the CLI because of the hacker nature of it.

thepianistfroggollum,

Dietpi, which has already been recommended, has a web dashboard you can use to control a bunch of stuff so you don’t have to have a gui

Unless they start offering on-prem or there are some very high profile server hacks I don’t see that being possible. Unlike media and client software they don’t need to provide the core functionality to end users, just the output.

aldalire,

I agree. As for the how, it’s gonna be tricky to say the least
